Can you read time on this?

Hi all,

Requesting some feedback from you all eminent fellow designers:
I’ve been playing with parametric equations and weird hands movements.

My latest delirium gave birth to something like that:

The question is rather simple:
Can you read time on this face?

Cheers for your feedback,
P.

after you find out the logic of the watch, is impressive! the hour is too suggestive but what you did with the minutes is our of this world!

WOW!
That’s clever!

I thing - You could add some kind of scale/tick mark on that epitrochoid shape.
That would help reading more precise minutes.

Thanks a lot guys, As suggested by Mellin, trying to include a kind of marking for the minutes: which will not be too obvious, yet readable and not too ugly… Struggling a bit, but I may have something

As for the hours, I agree with you Alberto, I just didn’t want to have everything too confusing

Stay tuned, I’ll pot the result soon…

You can try Normal and Dim mode for two different versions…

Tell me what you think… Same link, but in case:

I personally like the red one more.

Thanks Mellin. Me too actually.
Since then, I realised I could also have the epitrochoid pushed down to the dial (instead of rotating above) and play with colours while the minutes hand turns around.
I reckon I’ll end up doing something like that… We will see…

Last attempt…
Unless another idea pops out, I’m going to go for the normal mode here.
The dim mode is more for fun (and requires lots of work)

Wow CnP that’s awesome. Once I understand where the minutes are landing, I almost don’t want the numbers at all except for just subtle tick marks. Something heavier on the 60 leaf would set it apart from the other leaves as the top of the hour. Is it worth something fading in and back out in the center to mark the 10-minute, 30-minute, and 50-minute points? very cool watch.

Hi all,
Here is the final version, a few more things on the face, a bit of shadowing on the one hand.
Cradle of Life

Everything else is meant to be rotating on the face itself.
Still open to feedback and remarks of course.
Thanks a lot for your participation…
More to come.
Cheers,
P.
