Replica Faces (seems) not for all aloud

I’m glad you are beginning to see it.

@UserUnknow, have you seen this thread?

It seems that what you are reporting is a very well known issue. However, it’s still unresolved. Strange, uh?

I found a workaround… I did contact a few brands and asked them if I could also get permission to make replica faces off their brands and share them on Facer… that way, I will not get in trouble and Facer will not remove my replica’s anymore…

Nice as I am, I did supply a few examples off faces posted here on Facer, so I hope to hear soon from them

Good move, UserUnknow. IMO it’s always best to take the high road. Even if they end up saying “No” so that you can’t use them, you know in your heart that you have done the right thing by asking permission first.

I don’t think Facer will let you post branded watch faces even if you get permission from all the companies.owning the brands.

Which legal value would a private communication between you and a company have from their perspective? None.

But you already know this, nice as you are.

I might have a double agenda when I showed TAG, Breitling and Tissot what I mean with replica…

But I know that there will be a cleanup soon, so i’m fine again it just sucks for the people who wanne get premium and don’t even get a change to be noticed… but you all know, becoming premium is NOT about sync’s at all…

A cleanup? Facer guys told you they will remove the branded watch faces?

And what is it about, then?

Ask staff

And no, they don’t tell me anything but as I told before there are more people interested is how thing work…
Any company that is not open with their rules and condition is suspected… Did you know you don’t even own your own creations ?.. (somebody did read all the small print, also from a premium user)

Google is greedy but if you sell a face on Play it’s really yours… But, if your oke with how things work nothing is wrong… most people work hard to get the big guy rich… but that is also why I never work for somebody else anymore and the last 25 years it really payed off…

You didn’t answer me. What is it about, then?

If we’re talking about the premium designer agreement, I didn’t know, since nobody is talking in public about it, including its revenue-sharing terms, which are also unknown. They ask you to enroll as premium without telling how much you will be able to earn. Talking about transparency.

But now, if what you say is true, it seems somebody is starting to talk, after all. At least in private.

All non premium designers are.

This thread is really interesting…It seems that some people think Facer is out to get them :stuck_out_tongue:
If you created a fake and it got removed, then that seems like a good thing to me? Getting annoyed at the fact that EVERYONE’S fakes can’t be removed is an odd way to look at it in my opinion. If someone kills someone, they go to jail. They can’t then argue that they shouldn’t go to jail because some people never get caught lol. Facer has an enormous input of new designs every day. and they’re trying their absolute best to keep everyone happy (the automated system seems like a step in the right direction). Copyright is important, and Facer knows that, which is why they’re putting these processes in place. It’s an iterative process though, and we shouldn’t expect everything to be perfect immediately.

As an aside, you both have some awesome designs - I rocked ‘Sunrise Classic’ and ‘Digital Monster’ for a while  ‘Part-time stress enhancement specialist’ is also one of the best profile descriptions I’ve seen lol

I did not got angry that my replica’s got removed… I got Angry that Facer did respond pretty lame and more or less say, we use an automatic system that looks for copyright WHEN A NEW FACE GET PUBLISHED so they just let the traffic makers in the top 100 and Trending list where they are… The automatic system don’t work for faces you leave alone, but as soon you update them they will be noticed…

My point is and was that it takes a few hours to clean the site from fakes and all is fixed, every artist will have the same change to get some sync’s or to be noticed in the crowd. Now the top 100 and trending list seems rock solid with a little movement in the last 25 places…

I came her when I was told about it and that the app breaks a few Google play rules… (offering even one fake is forbidden) good thing is that trolls can’r report an app only if you own the copyrighted material.

You hit the nail with the jail thing… but nobody would like it if only some people would be put in jail for murder and not (for example) the pretty ones…

I really don’t get how many sync’s I have, sure my first two Rolex faces did 2500 sync’s in a week so yeh it’s clear Facer really need the fakes…

Tnx for the compliment about my design, between boring work (most of my work is) I take breaks and fool around with Facer or Photoshop to get my mind off the job   I will never ask for money but afcource I like it if people use them!!

And lolz I also don’t agree with calling a replica face a fake!! How much of an looser are you use them to impress people thinking you have a real Rolex,TAG, Breitling ect… The trademarks and parts of the disign can be copyright protected, so yes, you can not just use them… but a cheap ass smartwatch will never look like a real one…

(yes cheap ass, my S3 was 300 dollar my Daytona 9.000 (used))

All I did ask for was that staff put one line no fakes or all aloud, I made my first two for seeing all the Rolex faces in the Trending list so I never got the idea that it was not aloud (for me) New users will see the same…

Have all a great Sunday, Im on my way to Spa…watching some TAG Heuer powered carts :stuck_out_tongue:

A world where pretty people can’t go to jail… Haha substitute that for ‘people with money’ and it might actually be the case scarily enough!

I’m a Photoshop person too  although I’ve been known to use Powerpoint or even Paint at times!

Don’t worry, like I said, it’s all part of an ongoing refinement and improvement system

Nice! Enjoy your Sunday and the race too!

It’s exactly the opposite. Complaints are about unfair treatment. If I go to “jail”, then everyone committing the same “crime” should go to “jail”.

We can be friends. But only if there are honesty, transparency, fairness and respect.

That’s their aim - I don’t think they’re deliberately targeting people to pick on. My point was that if every single copyright-breaching face got removed, your copyright-breaching face would still be deleted. People who ‘get ahead’ by using copies aren’t really ‘getting ahead’. They won’t become premium and they will be taken down from Facer eventually, even if it takes a while. Best to go your own way and avoid the issue altogether  Like I said, it’s a big task so I get why it takes time to develop!

It seems more like they’re not deliberately targeting some people.

Hey I’m a 40 year old American and my grammar isn’t the greatest either!! You both speak quite fluently for a second language.

Ok, so it’s not just me. I just had my second face removed for copyright infringement of the BMW logo. The first one was the auto system flagging a logo it thought looked like the Rolex logo. It WAS a crown, but did NOT look like the Rolex logo. I appealed and it went back live. (Good work Facer!)

This one got auto flagged as well but bears ZERO resemblance to the BMW logo. (I’d post it but it is GONE) I have also appealed this but have yet to hear back.

I’m just about sick of seeing the top 100 FULL of fakes beating designers who are making original COOL shit (and not just me lol). There’s one designer whose entire collection of watches are fakes. Rolex, Nixon, and on and on.

My issue is this, I’m trying to be a premium designer and when my work is eclipsed by FAKES, my work doesn’t get seen. So I’m taking pride in my work and putting in a lot of time only to be beaten by copyright infringers, THEN I GET FLAGGED for infringement?!?!? What? Why?

Isn’t what I’m doing what you want? Making UNIQUE and CUSTOM works of art with brands I’ve created and own.

You may want to check the description of your watchface as well… I think I’ve had a watch flagged for that once by the software.

How can text infringe on a brand? I never said BMW. (I also can’t double check it because it is GONE) This face was part of a 5 face collection I just launched yesterday. I wanted to launch all 5 at once, but STILL haven’t heard back.

Here’s an example of what one of the face descriptions says…

"Designed for combat, the Frogman Sniper offers unique, custom hands, date, inner rotating seconds dial, floating second hand, and the conditions every sniper needs to know before each shot; Distance to target (aka steps), current weather conditions and temp, and heart rate indicator. Yellow tritium in AOD mode. "

They all basically say something similar.

Here’s a link to the collection Frogman - watch faces for Apple Watch, Samsung Gear S3, Huawei Watch, and more - Facer

I don’t use social media or have many friends to “share” my designs with, so my visibility on Facer is literally all from Facer. So when my work is pushed out of the top 100, way less people get to see my stuff. I’ve seen some people who “apply” to be a premium designer, but the platform doesn’t mention applying. It says if you’re good and meet all the requirements, you’ll be contacted and invited.

Suggestions?

In some company’s eyes, using their name to promote your watchface may be skating that line (IE: “Why buy the Rolex Blahblah, when you can have this knock off”)

Anyways, try contacting support via email, I’m pretty sure they can recover the watch.

I was just suggesting something to check off the top of my head.
