There have been many polls. Americans are pretty divided about this issue. Some want standard time year round, some want daylight savings year round and still others like the current system.
Go figure

I can see merits in most of the sides. The biggest issue with any of them that involves change is updating all of the various time standards databases used to keep all of the tech correctly synced up.
