Het is zoals het er naar uit ziet Game Over voor mij op Facer ! Zit vast doordat een wijzerplaat niet werkte op mijn smartwatch en het " eens " wel deed op Facer dat ik mijn horloge leeg gemaakt heb. Resultaat mijn Facer App weg en volgens informatie " krijg ik het nergens meer te zien " omdat men heeft besloten Wear niet meer weer te geven enkel vanaf Wear 06 of zoiets. Ben te zeer een amateur erin. Wat ik wel weet is dat mijn plezier is afgenomen en dat het zoal in vele gevallen overal om geld draait wil je verder nog iets doen ! Kan zelfs niet meer aan mijn " eigen wijzerplaten en dat is nog het ergste " ! Weet niet of er iets alternatief is maar ook daar zal op gegeven moment stoppen … Wil dus verder ook niemand meer lastig vallen vond het hier met enkele heel leuk fijn om te doen… Misschien binnen bepaalde tijd dat er mss update komt op mijn smartwatch " One Plus 2 " maar vrees ervoor…Bedankt aan degene die het echt goed bedoelden en me geholpen hebben met wijzerplaten!
Ik vind het heel vervelend om dit te lezen en het spijt me enorm dat dit je is overkomen 😥 Misschien is er een back-up in de cloud waarvan je het kunt terugzetten? 🤔 Gewoon een idee hoor, sorry.
Ja, het is jammer als iemand het gevoel heeft op te willen geven. Er is een manier om de ‘Legacy Facer’ (van vóór WOS6) op je horloge te krijgen, maar daarvoor is wel wat werk via de opdrachtregel (command line) nodig. Er zijn ook andere platforms; paradoxaal genoeg biedt Watch Face Studio wat meer mogelijkheden om mee te experimenteren. Ontwerpen die je daar maakt, kunnen nog steeds worden overgezet naar Facer en diverse andere platforms. Watchmaker doet het ook goed en introduceert enkele van de interessantere functies. We moeten allemaal de veranderingen accepteren die ons door de ‘grote boze reus’ Google worden opgelegd. Ik herinner me nog de tijd dat Android open source was; we hoopten dat dat zo zou blijven. Helaas heeft Google het opgeslokt, en zo staan we er nu voor.

I wanted to keep my older ticwatch on the old WOS because I have a number of cool premium watch faces with compass, stopwatch, interactions, and animations. I put lots of effort into those. And somehow, one day, maybe my own fault, I really don’t know, it was upgraded to WOS6. I can no longer load any pre-WOS6 watch faces! That really annoyed me!
Game over I thought and I put everything aside, also since I had about 500 watch faces no longer being compatible with WOS6. After a while I said now more than ever I will not let a big multinational company bring me down. Out of frustration I bought a Samsung Ultra and made over 500 watch faces WOS6 compatible - took me about 3 month! Seeing what Facer put into it as well, motivated me to continue and support Facer.
So, I can only say: come back at some point in time with fresh energy and keep going. You’ve got some cool faces out there!

Het is jammer mijn eigen stomme fout omdat Ik dacht dat weer bij Facer was dat wijzerplaat vast liep ( had zomaar gekund ) Heb nog klein beetje hoop op een update van mijn One Plus 2 watch dat er de wear 06 nog opkomt dit jaar. Als niet is dan kijk ik naar alternatieven. En dan moet ik vooral mensen met ervaring en technische specificaties en achtergronden aanspreken om me te helpen. Want daar ben ik geen held in ! Ja Ron, shit toestand, heb het ook meegemaakt. Google ondermijnt creativiteit voor batterij redenen, onzin voor mij maar goed. Zat in hetzelfde schuitje.. In ieder geval raad ik je aan om voor nieuwe facen, WFF formaat te kiezen ipv legacy. Niet omdat dat geweldig is, maar omdat het je wordt opgelegd. Wat betreft oude Facen, Facer heeft sommige automatisch omgezet naar WFF formaat, maar andere niet.
Maar je kan die omturnen naar WFF formaat en ik kan je daarbij helpen. Stuur me eens een face door hier met INSPECTION ON. Ik beloof je ernaar te kijken en dan doe we een FACETIME om het je duidelijk te maken.

I don’t look at google as the bad guy here. It’s easy to point the finger, but Samsung chose to go with WearOS and abandoned Tizen. Watch Face Format is a purely declarative format…no executable code allowed, It’s actually a very powerful platform, and I believe it will only get better. Facet didn’t see the writing on the wall. But in response, Google has actually worked very closely with Facer, WatchMaker, Pujie…etc to get everyone back up and running, and making concessions all the while.
When you actually research the history of this whole thing, Google isn’t the bad guy. It’s mostly just a weird set of circumstances that went down.
I’ve been writing new software to build watch faces because WFS has too many limitations. WFF is much more powerful, and WFS hasn’t even come close to utilizing what it can truly do. Facer hasn’t really either. Besides utilizing WFF to it’s fullest extent, I’m really concentrating on work flow. Like being able to copy stuff from one watch face project to anything, import bitmap font, adding shadows to any elements with ease including customable complication slots. Creating high resolution animate promo video of you watch face with live data. Something WFS can’t even dream of doing. This is just the tip of the iceberg. Imagine being able to preset third party complication slots. Yeah…another WFF exploit that NO one is doing except me. The list goes on. I know way more about WFF XML than anyone should ever have to know.
I can even take an APK from Facer, WatchMaker, Play Store and convert it back to an AAB or even a WFS file. All that being said, I haven’t made a new watch face in 2 months because I’ve been coding for 18 hours a day.
I’ll have to use FaceWorks to create some new stuff to show off on Facer.

WFF 5 was released after third party platforms were brought back, with blend modes for groups and complication slots, improved text alignment and auto sizing, stroke joins, hierarchical settings and configurable complication slots, among other additions.
Ed.Ludwig. Als ik je tekst lees moet ik U koning Ludwig noemen. Voor mij is dit puur hobby puur iets leuks te doen. U bent X aantal uren aan het en nu komt het " programmeren" voor U is dat pineuts en heb er bewondering voor en voor ik het vergeet ( hier zitten nog toppers en geweldige mensen die echt zijn en mij ook al geholpen hebben op verschillende manieren die ik nogmaals wil bedanken ! )allemaal leuk en aardig. Maar als top " amateur" is het plezier eraf. Omdat ik op sommige en meerdere vlakken moet afhaken waar het over gaat. Kijk dat ik niet meer verder kan is vooral uit onwetendheid. Ik kan nog wijzerplaten maken op pc. Maar dan is het voor de anderen enkel. En nu komt het het jammerlijk verhaal is dat ik gewoon deze wat ik gemaakt heb zelf niet meer aankan… Mijn einig hoop is dat One Plus 2 nog zijn laatste en 3de update ga krijgen zodat ik Facer ( in playstore op mijn smartwatch ) krijg maar vrees ik voor … Dus we zien wel verder nog 
Although I have a degree in computer science, I sucked at development and coding. So interesting to get some insights from an another angle! Just good to know that we haven’t seen it all yet…
Facer hasn’t really done much, but Alex over at WatchMaker has his stuff together. He just has to make the data paths more robust. I’m actually about to email him about doing just that. He’s got the hard stuff working already. The bottom line is, WFF allows for Complication Slot data to be used in, or as Tag Expressions. It’s tricky venture, but it completely works. So the Facer app which already have a working Weather Provider Engine in it left over from the pre WFF days. All they have to do is expose the data paths from that engine and they can be used right in the the watch face. Everything can be prewired up ahead of time without the need for user interaction. Face just isn’t taking advantage of this capability. WatchMaker is. So your Sunset Sunrise stuff in WatchMaker is all coming from the WatchMaker app on the watch as a prewired completion data path on the watch face. This is actually completely documented in Google’s WFF documentation, and even mentions Google working directly with Facer and WatchMaker to make these provisions. It seems Face has just dropped the ball on development.
I created my own data source watch app to give me all of the these things. But, it’s dependent on the user have it installed already. The beauty of Facer and WatchMaker is, the user is already gonna have those apps installed, but they’re the also the delivery system for the watch faces. The possibilities are literally endless, but no one is taking advantage of it. I’m actually considering creating my own Facer/WatchMaker competitor because of this. I’d rather not do this tho. Mostly I’m too old to be getting involved in such stuff.
But, in a nutshell, this is what I’ve learned.
I totally get it. I can only imagine the feeling of years of work being totally pushed to the side by change. Actually I don’t have to imagine it. I was automating Windows Builds and User State Migration a decade before Microsoft put all of their tools into place. I made a great living from it, and made the company I work for millions and millions of dollars. As Microsoft started build their own tools to do this stuff, my work became obsolete. I still have some tools I built that are unique, and keep me in the game, but it was a hard nut to deal with watching our clients start to do their own build automation with Microsoft’s new build tools. My philosophy has always been to stay on the upswing of technology, not the plateau, and never the down swing. That’s why I’m all over getting my software ready to exploit (this word can have negative connotations, but here I’m just saying use WFF to it’s fullest) everything WFF can do before anyone else.
