This sounds a bit ominous - but I mean it like this:
I recently decided to publish a face experiment, but remembered to un-tick the “Premium” box (because I don’t feel that my face is a Premium one, and because it uses no premium features, i.e. it isn’t theme-able).
But I also unticked “Inspect Mode” - my thought was: If someone is really interested in how certain methods of my face compare to their own or other similar work-arounds, they might as well have a good look into the community forum. This way they learn a whole lotta cool stuff.
SInce I’m very new here I might repeat mistakes countless other have made before me before they got acquainted with the usus here.
So what’re YOUR “Publishing Strategies”? What’s best for the community?

I always allow inspection mode just because I’ve learned how others have made their faces using it. If someone sees something in a watchface I’ve made they can just look and see how a redneck computer hack does things.
As for premium, Facer forces it on all faces including any premium options. On free watchfaces the premium isn’t available and can’t be clicked to upgrade it. At least that’s how it works on my computer.

I think you will find that those the most helpful here will say ‘inspection on’ - that way others can learn. There’s much to learn from newbie mistakes! I have made plenty of them i know!
The thing here is to try first and then if you’re stuck ask. The giants here always try to make things educational

For topics I cover here in the community, like the gears and crankshaft, inspection is open, also when I publish these.
In general I do not open inspection, because people should come to this community to learn. But I also keep a category with all inspectable faces called WatchMaker.

I’ll 3rd @mrantisocialguy and @BIELITZ with inspection on always.
I do this for kicks, giggles, brain fodder and, within a week, the community.
Yes I want my faces to hit the top 100 but, for me, that’s secondary for the learning and sharing experience.

Thanks for the insights, people. I set it to inspect now. I have nothing to hide lol
I guess those who are into this for
kicks, giggles, brain fodder and, within a week, the community.
will get the most out of the journey anyway.
Just noticed that (at a first glance) 99.9 % of published watch faces are NOT in inspector mode. But I guess that a lot of publishers are getting revenue for their designs, and that’s completely understandable. That’s why I asked YOU - it seems to me that the most creative guys and gals are here in the forum <3

Count yourself among the best of the new additions. There are a few more but I like your approach.
You are not afraid to explore and start with the basics visually and work up and then swap to brain gears the other way.
More importantly, not afraid to ask. It’s the way to get the info out to the community.
You have been a refreshing addition to the community with new questions, opening ideas and threads that solidify floating ideas.
Keep up the delve, questions and discussions. You often [re]spark ideas in us that have lain dormant since we first started. Pretty certain I am not the only one from comments.

These are very kind words, and I’m thrilled to hear that! Thank you! I simply don’t want to appear ungrateful or “over-the-top” - nobody wants a n00b in a community that subscribes and starts being an overbearing presence and “let’s change all that now that I’m here” kind of guy. I got quite a bit of OCD with a spot of ADHD, that’s why I’m much too quick with posts and answers, because I type faster than I think
So it seems all is well. I’m not here to earn money (not that I’ll reach this kind of excellence any time soon), I just want to play by the rules. And have a load of fun and brainwrecking.

Pish and Posh.
You have never said ‘Do it this way, not that’
You bring ideas for a vision and ask how to do it having mostly achieved but need a little push to the line.
For me It is a push for back to the roots, as though I have been focusing on text only I have tried to do over fancy with that and, really with simple you want primary or pastel colours and simple outlines.
My Cake range hoped to bridge that a little. on the bling side but I need another Basic range analogue.
I love to see what you will think of next.

I have stopped publishing for now . I want a number of Faces in my profile that can be browsed if someone is interested . 360 is still a large number . My original limit was 60 and I regret the faces I deleted to maintain that . I have always published Inspectable . I feel that it is some sort of pay back for the help I get from this Community and Slack in my early days . Facer have provided a platform for a Great Community . I go on another and it is nothing like this . Thanks Everyone .

I had wondered. I have been watching for a new one. Maybe we can work out a cross joined, anniversary collaboration?

Yeah that will be sweet . I stared another one for Square watches only as you know . Just not done much on it . I seem to be quite happy just being a Pest on the Forums :::))) . I would quite happily delete some of the Crappy faces I have published to make space for something better . But like the stuff I have collected in our Garage . I am reluctant to get rid of it .

This is the best place to learn most of what you will need for any design. There are giants in here and they have all commented already. I have learned so much from them and I continue to do so. Most of my designs are not inspectable for the reasons already given. I do have some that are, particularly the animated ones. There are also some awesome tutorials in this forum from seasoned designers and I am eternally grateful.
