Upgrading to WearOS6 Options

People are entitled to their opinions privately but in any public community to diagnose the reason for business practices of the sponsor and its partners is unnecessary.

I dont agree… this is an open community which encourages interaction (free speech) and where criticism is allowed. The problem is a lack of communication. IF I had pro I also would be annoyed if i suddenly found that most of what I paid for no longer works! Others here and in other posts have patiently explaned that Facer is not the bad guy and that’s how it should be

The bottom line to all of this “Don’t read. Can’t learn.” The announcements were made months ago.

I agree, that is one way of learning for me is to listen to others opinions. And it’s totally okay for others to disagree. If I can’t express myself here, then I am in the wrong place. As I see others have voiced their opinions in the past and they were never told not to. I will continue to voice my opinion until Management tells me otherwise.

Of course it’s all about the money. It’s always about the money. Do you think Formula 1 is about who wins races? Or professional football is about who wins the Superbowl? All these are businesses, and business is just another word for accumulating money.

Years ago some companies had slogans that they felt symbolized what their business was about. If I remember properly, DuPont’s was “Better things for better living. Through chemistry.” IBM’s was “Machines should work. People should think”, which was later shortened to just “Think”. Google’s was “First do no evil.”

None of that applies today.

Creator Partners participate in this community to offer support and maintain civility with a positive attitude. I do not recall seeing otherwise.

Got it, thanks for clarifying. I’m all about positivity and support too! I’m just sharing my thoughts and listening to others. Guess we’ll just have to agree to disagree, and keep the conversation respectful . Message received, appreciate your input :+1:

I would agree, at the corporate level of a company like Google, every decision is in the end about bottom line. I think part of the problem is that all the writeups and reviews of the watches always make a big deal about battery life, as though that were such an important thing. But is it really? If a watch gets a solid 24-36 hours with all the bells and whistles on is that such a bad thing? we charge our phones every day, what’s the big deal about charging our high-powered watches once a day? I think most of us happily give up battery life in exchange for cool features. But all the reviews always start with battery life, so Google feels like they’ve got to prioritize that.

But it also seems to me they are, as Samsung is, always trying to follow Apple’s lead, or imagine that they are staying a step ahead. What was always great about Android vs Apple was that Android let consumers make a lot of decisions for themselves, whereas Apple seems to want to dictate everything. Granted, many consumers don’t want to be burdened with the complexities of having choices to make on their devices, and they are happy with the choices Apple makes. But Android fans who understood the difference appreciated the freedom that Android devices offered. With WFF, Google appears to be making it easier for themselves at the expense of consumers’ ability to personalize their own experience. But do the majority of their users really want a round Apple watch? I guess we’ll find out over the next couple of OS builds if they go all in on this move or if they walk it back a little bit. I can only hope they’ll get enough feedback to consider bringing back some of the things they stopped supporting.

I don’t think it’s about battery life, or Google making things easier for themselves; at least not in the sense that they curbing watch face features to lock things down. I think that are trying to create a Bare Metal WFF Platform that can work on any WearOS device. I think this is a big undertaking, and they’re running behind. We we promised all kinds of new Tags in WFS that haven’t come to fruition yet. I suspect that the WearOS 6 rollout is pulling on all of Google, nad Samsung resources at the moment, and the Watch Face Format is sitting on the back burner, not cooking. I think all of the whoas we’re experiencing are nothing more than growing pains. I expect to have all kinds of new tags and features in the future release of WFS. I think that’s where the future is, even with Facer. They should be concentrating on being a distribution platform, rather than a Creator/Editor Platform. I’m certain this is their reasoning for having the ability to import AAB files to begin with.

If that were the case I would revert to using my titanium cased TISSOT which has a battery life of 2 years and which looks better!

For sure . Many will say the Best thing about Facer Community is that it is the Best . I believe that is because the way it works promotes Camaraderie . Very few forums let people Branch off to make Direct Messages . I have used that to give Personal Advice on topics mostly about Watchface Making . I don’t mind saying I think this Watch Face Making game attracts like all Creatives , People with Personalities . That is how they manage to make things that are unique . Sometimes the common ground is what we create . We must Carefully Foster Differences of opinion . Otherwise it is a Dictatorship :::)))

I think the watch faces designed with WFS by real designers are exceedly nicer the 98% of what gets published on Facer via Creator. I’m sorry, but there are so many bad faces on here.

Tell me then, how do good designers get to be good designers? Everybody starts somewhere!

In my opinion, before the recent developments, Facer’s Creator was the best out there and im sure it will be again soon because of their genius developers and of cause, the people here.

Facer Creator is only half the story - the other half is here and now…

Facer provides a place for people to learn. Learning is a journey. As for what is “bad” all of us are probably aware that not everyone likes the same thing.

Yes, I realize that, but many members on the Creator side start learning there by experimenting with the available free tools. They eventually wander over here to find out how to enrich their skills.

There are lots of Bad Faces and they are not made by People Learning to make something special . They are Multiple posts sometimes 20 a day with absolutely no Effort whatsoever . I have even tried to be provocative and copied their work directly to show how it can be improved . That got no reaction from the MAKER or Facer so I would say that Facer and the Maker turned a Blind eye . I would be Livid if someone made a direct copy of something I made . Even if the resources were in the Public Domain .
Yes this is a Personal Beef that I raise often . The swamping of Facer Fresh Faces with S… cuts down the exposure of people who are Learning . Facer know this and to be honest I think a lot of the Work of partners and featured Makers get a Pass to the Charts . There you are that is me . Take this comment down if you wish .

Russell, I was not referring to the watch faces that are spam or used for testing. That is something entirely different.
