A new Blender based face

Hi. I want to share with you this face where i learned new tricks, namely the use of wind on objects created in Blender and to show you the power of Blender combined with Facer. Because wind is movement and movement is … animation. Often i can make creations i have not seen often here and i have been now around some time

I was triggered by Christian who asked me if can make a Flag, or better said a image of a flag, wave with the wind in a GIF or animation. Did that and thought why not go further. I like to go further, deeper. So i made also a waving animation of my logo. Will use that elsewhere.

remark : to see the full animation always awake my faces.

So. I thought why not use classic background of faces, bevels, data or objects with ticks etc or even hands, let them move by the same wind. A wind that bends material, in this case cloth material which allows bending. In Blender you can give attributes, define objects as cloth which opens a whole new can of faces to me. And is exactly what i like so much about Blender, to be max creative and import them in Facer where i use these formulas you all know about.

Using defining objects as cloth and make them wave, opens of course new possibilities to show data in the background and meanwhile cycle the waving things…

So here it is. As always any comment is welcome.

Some will notice that not only the background waves, but also the hour hand, while rotating with the background!

Greetings

Can the wind animation be repeated, for example to show a flag continuously blowing in the wind?

@BIELITZ

Yes you can. The limitation in F is how many PNG images and the resolution. Essential to achieve that “continuously blowing in the wind” is

  • looping in each sequence, TRIGGER ON WAKE

  • make for example 4 seq of 24 PNG with REVERSED On, and after that, copy them in reversed order with REVERSED OFF. This method is often used to loop through the whole animation in this case 8 seq each seq has a duration of 1 sec. You can also create the looping at the source, in my case BLENDER. For example i can loop a hand 360 degrees in say 60 frames, each frame turning the hand 6 degrees.

  • use the correct formula. I use in pos X, $#DWE#%8… The 8 stands for the total duration of the complete animation, in this case 8 seconds. After that it continues to loop eternally every 8 seconds, because of the preceding % (modulus).

Here is an example of a wavering Italian flag. Inspection is on.

Sorry if I’m missing the point here, but surely a waving flag could be added as 1 simple Sequence

Only 7 frames to that one.

Yes - you are right it could…the flag was just an example.

that is surely a waving flag, great for 7 images. But it is very repetitive to my taste and lacks a little bit variation. But as Tom would say, that is just me.

Very often I have tried to help people improve the GIF thing because many will not find a GIF that loops and 24/25 frame is a bit restricting .
I have recommend the duplicate reverse then sequence technique to improve the look . Often even that is beyond what a Beginner can achieve .
Well done @icrltd4 in finding the GIF . I will file it in my special folder. I think we might need a bit of Jingoism Soon .
