A watchface for table-top sailors

This is my latest attempt at a Data watch - this time for inshore and coastal yachtsmen. First of all it’s a METRIC watch meaning that wind speed is in mps and wave height in m. This was an interesting project for me as I had to research some calculations and rediscover weather icons. Finding a suitable font and a layout was a bit of a task - but one that was eventually solved. The red flag on the rotating compass ring shows wind direction related to the heading. Lat/Lng coordinates to 3 decimal places apparently resolves down to 111m. The whole thing was just an exercise for me and shows what I imagine might be important on an all in one gauge for sailors!

When I publish it will go with several caveats -

  1. Don’t navigate with it - it’s all based on Open Weather. The only thing that can be relied upon is the date, time and battery status
2, Sea conditions and the ‘STAY HOME’ flag are also based on OW with factors averaged for inshore and coastal sailing.
  2. The stay home flag also takes NO account of the size of the yacht - obviously a wave 1m height is less of a problem for an ocean going yacht than for a dinghy.
