Altitude issue with facer

Hi everybody !

I’m sorry but i can’t find how to solve the altitude issue i have on my facer watch faces. So maybe someone will be able to help me !

So each time i use a watch face from facer the altitude is wrong.
I have a Samsung galaxy watch 6.
I’m at 16m above the water and on my watch it’s noted -73m :grimacing::grimacing::grimacing: no I’m not under the sea :sweat_smile:

I tried to change from metric to imperial. Same issue.
I ununstalled the app on my watch and downloaded it again. I allowed facer to use location etc but same issue.

On my watch i have an altimeter app, the altitude is correct.
When i use a face watch from else where like google store no problem.

So why i have this issue with facer ?

Thank you so much

The Altitude Data Facer uses is based on the Batometric Pressure Reading . In the UK the air pressure changes a lot . So that makes the Data change . Also it is impossible to Zero the Data unless you are a Pro . the only way you will get a reasonably accurate reading is from an app that uses GPS . I live near a 100 foot Bench mark and have tested this stuff exaustivly . I used a Barometric Altimiter to gauge how high Watter Bottle Rockets went . The Y were calibrated to Zero just before Launch . I belive they were reasonably accurate . Zero to 500 Foot .

So if i understood, facer will never provide the correct data and we will have to use another app to have the correct altitude ?
So the altitude on the facer watch will be useless as it’s wrong ?

With all the people reporting this issue why facer doesn’t change where they take the data ?

Facer provide a Barometer Reading from the sensor on watch . I will check to see thier claims to Altitude .

Thank you so much !

What @russellcresser told you is correct, the Facer altitude reading is wrong all the time. One person on here figured out that by multiplying it by Pi (3.14) it became close. When I discovered it didn’t work correctly I stopped putting altitude on my watchfaces.

That’s so sad :face_with_diagonal_mouth:

But it doesn’t work for me  multipling by 3.14 doesn’t give me the right value !

So Here is a Test I made . Tte pressures near as would ever be . So that is a start . I am at 33 meters .
Or problem is there is no way to Zero the Pressure reading . We can not trap numbers on Facer . We can not even indicate if the pressure is going up or down . So all I can say is sorry . But get into the other stuff that Does work . There is a Load .

Thank you so much for your help !
Too bad that their watch faces don’t show the right value. And too bad that facer don’t try to work on it ! Maybe someday !
I will use something else

So. I have been reading this and pondering: Is there a way to tell WearOS to get altitude data from the phone instead of the watches barometer?

Couldn’t find that but did find that the altitude reset for Galaxy watches is hidden away in the compass settings apparently. Not having one I can’t confirm but…

Yeah the altitude is hidden in the compass ! You have to scroll down in the compass to see it. But in my case it’s better to be outside to have it because they use the GPS.

My altitude problem is only with facer watch faces.

If i use an altimeter app on match or use another watch face from another store the altitude is correct.

Yes . Samsung Compass has Altitude of you switch on GPS . But we can not pass this data to Facer . Ther is so much on Facer that is not on other Platforms we forget the Issues . For example Mobile Phone Power Reading .

I’m in the US and I had to use this formula to get the altitude on my watches to match the altitude on my calibrated barometer:

(round(#ALT#*.31)) ft

I have a Samsung Galaxy 5 Pro.

Glad you dropped in; it’s been a while.

Hi @kd7eir
But where do you put this formula in the watch ?

Here where you are setting up the altitude layer.

@kd7eir thank you so much but where it is exactly in the watch. It’s in the face watch settings ? In facer settings ?
Sorry maybe I’m dumb lol

You cant put it anywhere to correct others watchfaces that are already giving bad reading.
You would have to put that as source for the altitude text when creating own watchface.

Oh but I’m not a creator :sweat_smile::sweat_smile::sweat_smile:

I apologize for misunderstanding your question.
