Has anyone noticed that Facer has been systematically going thru the AAB Imports and creating Animation Preview, similarly to how they do it for Facer Creator created faces?
I compile my AAB File with a Preview image in order for it to show what the face would like like once Customizable Complications have been selected. The default preview looks like crap, because those complication slots are empty in the watch face until the user selects a complication.
Now that Facer has been going thru this process, a lot of my Previews look like crap. I reimported a few in hopes it would circumvent this, but to no avail.
I have submitted a ticket for this, asking for a way to disable this feature for select watch faces. I’m posting here for more visibility, because this is a big deal, and could be a show stopper for my future with Facer.
I no that I can select default complications for the customizable slots in WFS, but the selection in the drop down is dismal at best. So that’s not really good an option.
The irony is, I asked for this animated preview functionality, not realising the consequences…LOL

Oh wow, I just went and looked at mine. Yes, mine show the animations now instead of being static, I like it. I always hated that the animations didn’t show. I usually add animated in the title so everyone knows. I understand yours concerns though. I would say add a promo pic, but you know most people don’t look at them or even read the descriptions. Hopefully Facer will find a work around.

Having a promo video be the default would be an amazing option. I could easily make a 30 second video of the animation with my chosen complications. Just let me replace the default animation with the video file.
A couple of my faces are unflattering but overall, I’m glad to see preview animations. It’s seems iit definitely doesn’t like built-in weather.

It’s tough when you have faces with 4 to 8 customizable slots. There’s no way to make it look good, unless you compile with a custom preview image.
I like that they’re doing as well, but it needs to tweaked a lot. I wish there was a warning, and also wish I could turn it off until it’s perfected.

The only reply I got was asking for a link to the watch faces in question. Seemed odd to me because I figured my login for submitting the ticket would automatically connect you to my page. This is of great concern to me.

Another thing you might want to know is, the preview you are creating can not be deleted or updated. The only way to get rid of it, or update it, is to delete the watch face completely and start over from scratch.
Who did the Beta testing on this? They’re testing plan wasn’t very thurough.
If you need some advice on how to proceed with HUGE things like this, let me know. I’m intimately familiar with rolling out software, and/or OSs to 100s of thousands of users.
Always test, test, test, and then rollout to a small voluntary pilot group, then rollout to secondary pilot (may or may not be voluntary, but a slightly larger, but still small controlled group), then when all of this satisfied, rollout out to the general population. I don’t think any of this is being done.
Now, I have noticed all the data is missing from my imported designs…

Are Facer starting to Deprecate Imported Faces one asks ?

I must go have a look . I see the weather temperatures but no Icon . No HR or steps . Oh Well . May be that will be fixed . Makes the faces look Broken . Shame .

They’re working on getting it to work better, and give us options other than the default preview. I have a pretty good email thread going with support regarding this.

I was hoping they’d just put them back to the original Icons that we had chosen until they got something worked out. Good to know they are working on it.
