I am brand new to the platform and have only made a few faces I like so far (mreatini - Whoops I dropped it! - watch face for Apple Watch, Samsung Gear S3, Huawei Watch, and more - Facer) here’s one of them. But I’d like to make some for Apple watches too and haven’t been able to figure out how to get the same design capabilities for that as with the non-Apple watch face design options. For example altering background, design etc. Any recommendations of where to go for that?

You’ve got some nice designs going 
In addition to what @mrantisocialguy has suggested, it’s also worth noting that you’re ‘locked in’ to certain templates with Apple designs and there is not as much flexibility in the designs as Samsung/ Tizen. Forces you to be creative, but can be a little tricky to get your head around at first.
