Google Wear OS 6: New features explained and which watches are supported
I have WOS6 working very well on a Galaxy Watch 7 44mm .
Pretty sure the Galaxy Watch 4’s gonna get the new Wear OS 6 through One UI 8 Watch. Samsung already confirmed support for the Watch 4 series.
Some of the newer features might be limited though, since the hardware’s getting a bit old.
Well, so long as this update to GW4 works like upgrades to older watches before where the watch still supports older formats. That is, you could load non-WFF on them after the update and load WFF as well.
I considered waiting for the update for my GW7, but the trade in was about what I paid for it new and the GW8 Classic had the rotating bezel I like.
Still, my GW7 was a nice ( and thin ) watch.
Yes . My GW7 updated the other day . I have a 5 I don’t want to update .
At least with you having a GW4 you will hear about all the GW6 & GW5 owners who updated and their results. If those users start complaining about losing the ability to sync older watchfaces you’ll know not to update your GW4.
I’m quite sure the Facer Facebook group will be filled with stories of joy or the gnashing of teeth.
This is going off topic a bit . But I see that Facer is offering two companion apps for there Watches that have been / Will be updated . However if you allow a currently Legacy Watch to update to WOS6 there is no going back for Mortals .
It won’t be backwards compatible. It’s going to be WFF only.
Thank You .That is clear enough .
Well, I ran the update to UI 6, System 14, OS 5. The GW4 still loads and runs one of the premium faces I made that my GW8 Classic will not. That’s about what I want from my GW4. ( One tap rotating bezel timer )
Just double checked since that test was a couple months ago. Facer still says my GW8 will not run this same face.
It seems at the moment the only thing that a WOS6 watch will run from th Pro Utilitys is the 8 preset apps from the App launcher .
What about color themes, are those from creator not compatible with WFF?
I will check thst in a bit . Will be good to have a list .
No they are not compatible. When you see a color picker on a wff face in Facer it is made in wfs.
Once you go to WearOS 6 OneUI 8 on the Watch 4, that won’t work anymore.
Well yes, that is the true time to check this again. Didn’t expect too much to be different.
