Congratulations Facer

I would like to say Congratulations Facer . It seems like you have found a way for people who want to continue using all Facers Utility’s on their watches into the Future . Of course it will be our responsibility to avoid the updates to WFF . It looks a little complex but it is the only way Possible . Facer must Remain the Best Platform out there .
Thank you so Very Much .

I wonder if we reset Our Legacy Samsung watches we will get an option to Load WOS5 and not WOS6 . If someone buys a Second user GW5 for example will they be stuck with it loading WOS6 . I suppose this is a Question that should be asked on the WFS Forum .

The thing is, it makes it difficult for us to be certain the watches faces work on the watches. I have 2 Apple watches (SE and v6), a ticwatch and a Samsung GW6. Aside from the GW6, all have limitations.

I am thinking of getting a newer WFF compatible watch, because I have had comments that something was not displaying properly on their WFF watch. But testing would mean a lot more effort…

Do I concentrate on WFF only going forward?
At some point we may have to, as you wonder, because you will most likely not get around WOS6 being installed.

I will be and have been concentrating solely on WFF myself because as you say, we kinda have to. In addition, as a user, you’re going to have to make a concerted effort to NOT install Wear OS6 and I suspect that will only be possible for those who understand a lot more than the average lay-person.

I have switched off WiFi and auto update on my GW5 Watch that I want to preserve WOS5 . I asked The Chat Bot on the Samsung site and go this . Part of the transcript timeline inverted . If anyone is interested in the whole transcript and to check my spelling I will DM it .

I always thought if you did a factory reset, it goes back to factory settings. What ever came installed from factory, is what it resets to. Then you install all available updates. I could be wrong though.

Quick tip for anyone resetting their Galxy Watch: a factory reset won’t roll it back to an earlier version of Wear OS. It only clears your data and apps, the OS version stays as-is.

Just like with Android phones or Windows PCs, it’s a clean slate, not a dwngrade.

The question is, will the scenario repeat like it did on wearOS 4 watches that received wearOS 5?
Those retained the old functionality, despite the new OS did not support it on watches that came with it from store.

Galaxy Watch 6 in Spain, still no One UI 8 / Wear OS 6 update.
Samsung’s tsting phase isn’t done yet, Watch 7’s already rolling out.

Galaxy Watch 4 updates usually come with noticeable battery drain. Each major Wear OS or One UI Watch release tends to use a bit more power than before.

True, but it did not restrict Facer functionality in general

That is what I am doing. Not because I want to exclude either the older or newer WFF watch users. WFF is the only way forward for the largest user base.

No it won’t, Google has made sure of that.

Thanks, is there a way to roll back if you wanted to?

Exactly. Technology moves forward.

You can’t officially roll back Galaxy Watch updates.
There are workarounds out there, but they’re risky not worth bricking your watch or losing security updates.

My problem is I don’t remember and have never Documented an Install . I actually believe the Samsung Chat Respondent is wrong . I have asked them testing questions before . I was interested to see what they say . Since Samsung do not have an OS for their watches any more I think the latest for that particular Processor made by Google gets Plonked on there with no option . However I suppose if you have been sensible to have Smart Switch running you might get the option to Set it up from a Backup . We will see . I am more Interested to know for a Maker Friend in Brazil who can not afford a new watch . He is having a play with PRO so he will not want a WOS6 Watch at all ever . I am trying to persuade him to Buy a second user GW5 Pro . But unless that happens soon that will be a mistake . In That case he would not have a backup of a previous Watch .

Of Course . But one must admire Facers drive to continue support for Tizen . I like to think that Facer had a large Base of Hobbyists . Some of whom use the Creativity of it for Therapy . I think it will always be important for Facer to give space for People who can not afford the Latest soon as it comes out . Apart from Gifts from my Family I have had to rely on the good old CEX shop for my watch upgrades . Usually 18 months to two years after release . I will actually Cry the day I can not load my Personal Face to my GW5 Pro any more . I think I have spent about 300 hours working on that face in different guises .

It is true that technology is moving forward, but in the case of WFF it is a few steps back, if not a few years, to the time when smart watches only showed the time, date and notifications. The data that the manufacturer allowed, no customization existed. WFF and all that trimming just because of 10% extra battery for the crybaby who can’t set the watch, I install some application because it’s cool, it’s completely shitty and useless, then they add other unnecessary functions to the watch like the ability to put a photo as a background, when the consumption increases by the 10% they saved and by another 5% more. Someone simply didn’t think about it at Google again.
I will focus on WFF when it is fully functional with a facer like WOS 5 is now, until then it is a non-functional shit and I don’t care.
