Facer drains Galaxy Watch 6 battery

G’day people :raising_hand_man:

I’ve had a quick search, and while I’ve found similar topics, I hadn’t found anything that fits.
Forgive me if I missed something. This is my first post.

Anyways, my Galaxy Watch 6 battery lasts about one day when I use Facer. It doesn’t matter what watch face I use, even a basic one, right through to more complex ones.

If I use a standard watch face, or one from another app my battery lasts at least two days. Currently I’m using one called Top Gun which I downloaded from Google Play from VYRON, which I have customised to include pulse, battery, and steps, and I’m still getting at least two days. I’ve gone full digital without the hands, but the seconds still show on the border.

I know I can make the battery last a little longer if I set the pulse/heart rate to update less frequenting, but I need it to monitor my pulse for health reasons, but that shouldn’t make a difference if I use a different watch face, unless it updates the face differently.

I also need easy to read faces as I broke my glasses, and I can’t afford new ones yet, but all my choices have been pretty easy to read, and don’t include any animations, or minimal animations.

Ultimately, if I use a Facer watch face, my battery lasts 23-25 hours, and if I use any other watch face, my battery lasts 48-54 hours.

Am I doing something wrong? Or could there be a bug somewhere, either in my watch, or the Facer app?

I used to be very smart with tech stuff, but these days with my health issues, and the meds I’m on, my head doesn’t work as it used to lol, so thanks for your patience with me.

Thanks…
Steven :alien:

You have to understand that it’s just not the Facer watchface you are running, but also an extra app running on top of WearOS. That causes battery to drain no matter what. My Galaxy Watch 6 Classic is running about the same hours as with and without Facer as yours is. The 6 series has a smaller battery than my 5 Pro or my 7 Ultra so it doesn’t seem to last as long.

Good morning,
I would suggest to try even less animation and only basic time +BPM watch face, to make fair comparison. Maybe something plain like this, instead of animated confetti bowl.

Thanks @mrantisocialguy
I get that now, and it makes sense.

Thanks @petruuccios
I have played around with a few different faces, some very basic and without any animations, although the last lot I used were animated Christmas ones, which I noticed was the last ones I used.
I have just given it another go with a static picture in the background, although some of the text is hard to read which is a pain as I like the background picture.
Thankfully most of the text isn’t too bad, but the battery level is difficult to read.

My phone and watch just had an update, so hopefully the battery is given more life with the upgrade, but time will tell.

I think I’ll have a look at some tutorials on YouTube and try and design my own face. I have a beautiful real collectable Jeep watch that I love, and if I can, I’ll try and recreate it in Facer, and add the bits I need to monitor for my needs. Fingers crossed that I can make it look good. My biggest concern is that I don’t want to infringe on copyright or trademarks by making it.

Thanks guys for you wisdom

Since your watch just updated, the battery usage may get worse for a short time while the update learns your battery usage and adapts to it.

As a heads up, if you do make a Jeep watchface, don’t publish it if it has the word “Jeep” in it written or in picture form. Facer has been having to go on a search for copyright infringements lately, and you can get a published watchface removed. As long as you do not publish and just use it yourself, you’ll be fine with no issues.
