FACER no longer supports weather?

My weather has been broken for a number of days now too. Either it displays plainly wrong info or if I stop using it for a day or so and switch back it will just show dashes where there should be data.

Shows the same thing in the facer phone app too.

Galaxy Watch, S10.

xiaomi mi 9+huawei watch 2 4G me too weather is broken and any display

Its honestly a mess. I also have problems with weather on my watch, I just don’t pay attention to it. Can someone at Facer finally fix the weather once and for all? This has been an ongoing problem for months.

I have an LG Urbane with an iPhone.

Hi all,

We are going to release a watch face to help debug this issue for users facing it. The issue is rather complex as it may come from multiple parts of the platform (location not detected? connection issue with the weather service? No data from the weather service itself?). We’ll update this thread when the test watch face is released.

Thanks!

All,

Please download Facer 5.1.24 from the beta channel on Google Play (howto) and then open this watch face in the mobile app and sync it to your watch:

If you could share a screenshot of what you see on both phone and watch at facer-support@little-labs.com, that would be very helpful! We will be able to see which part of the system is causing the issue.

Important note: this face shows your latitude and longitude and we recommend against sharing these screenshots publicly for privacy reasons. Please use the support email above instead.

Hi all,

FYI, one of you sent us some very helpful information to our support email address and we were able to identify an issue that could indeed cause the weather to not properly show up.

This bug is now fixed and the fix should be included in the Facer 5.1.24 which is schedule for release before the end of the week. Thanks for your patience!

Nope. I have version 5.1.24 and weather does not update on any Facer watch face. Works fine on non-facers. I see this has been a problem for years and still unresolved. Watch now says it is snowing. Weird, since outside my window I see clear blue skies, temp. in the 50’s.

@detritusgoeshere can you send us an email at facer-support@little-labs.com? We’ll investigate that with you ASAP.

im on 5.1.71_105972 and im having the same issue with the weather not updating.

It was mentioned before but installing OpenWeather on the phone seems to fix everything.

When I first started I could not even get weather elementss to show until I turned GPS on on the watch.
For a week it has been working but hardly ever updating (wi-fi on the watch off).

Today I installed OpenWeather on the phone and GPS off on the watch. Weather now woking properly on facer faces.

I have had the same issue, and i solved it charging a face from Galaxy Store and then going back to Facer’s Face. Now i have read about installing OpenWeather on the phone and i decided to do a try.
@rob.fisk is right. After having installed Open Weather al meteo data were on my face in less than 1 second

Yeah I Installed Open Weather as @rob.fisk mentioned.
I was trying to find the post where MAG @mrantisocialguy dropped the link .
Easy enough to find on the Google Play Store.
Not sure if it makes any difference time will tell .
My watch is usually reporting all the Weather Station stuff OK .
Unless I go on a little trip somewhere or the watch crashes and needs a reboot.
Then it would normally take a bout 20 mins to sort itself out.

Samsung Watch 4 classic 42mm LTE on Samsung Galaxy Note 9.
I came here looking for an answer to show weather on any facer face. I turned every permission on on my phone and watch for facer, weather apps I have (not openweather), and anything else that seemed related.

I turned WIFI, location, and LTE on for the watch and was connected to my phone by Bluetooth. My phone has WIFI (same network), and Bluetooth on.

Samsung faces will show weather info but nothing from facer would. While reading these comments I had the idea to turn every toggle on my phone on too. Location being the only one left. When I turned location on for my phone, weather showed up on the watch instantly.

Ok… so it’s working. But the watch is LTE. Shouldn’t I be able to do everything on the watch independently without it caring what’s on or off on my phone?

I’m going to try installing openweather and see what happens. But that’s still relying on what’s on my phone unless there’s a watch app too.

I don’t know the answer about LTE. But I haven’t installed openweather anywhere and weather shows on my watches just fine. I do have location enabled though. My Fossil Carlyle is the only one where weather doesn’t update, I can’t even use the native weather app, so nothing to do with facer, but I get a “can’t establish location” message when I try to load the weather app. Location is enabled. I haven’t bothered resetting the watch to see if that fixes it, but my experience with Fossil watches is that something or another fails after a year or so, so I’m assuming it may just be that.

Well done @AceV and Welcome to the Community. Seem like you have unfolded one of the Mystries of Facer Weather.
Installing Open Weather on your phone is a good Idea.
I leave the GPS on my watch on. Another Battery Drain. But the data that comes from Open Weather is important to me. It seem like the watch needs to know where it is before it can ask Open Weather about the weather. SR SS and all the other stuff. I have a thing on my watch that needs to know Latitude. Well some times I have Weather stuff but the Latitude data is not updated.

The best that I can figure, the weather information is accessed only through the phone app. Then it’s sent to the watch. Opening the Facer watch app two or three times during the day seems to remind it to keep the weather updated.

I have turned location off from my phone and still receive weather updates on my watch. It seems like it just needed it once to establish or something.

When you change your region.

It is all about bleetooth and location as far as I can see. Both must be on on the watch. Both got rurned off the other day and not turned back on after hitting battery saving (10%) mode. I rarely frop below that as I have my eye fave to remond me of must have, charge but it was a weekent ant I was at the pub after an early morning charge and didn’t wake until mid morning and had been showing off faces. I think if batterery levels his bekiw optimum allconnectivity levels need to be rechecked.
Wifi got turned on and was supposed to be off.

For me, it came down to this: I had location permission for the facer companion app on my watch turned off. Turning it on fixes the issue.
