I think it would be epic if Facer would add .gif support for easier animations.
No more workarounds but simply being able to set a .gif as the background image.

You already can, just add it to the Sequence element and use that as the background as the first (bottom) element.
Oh thanks ill look into it later!
Does this also work with multiple gifs, think of animated little icons?

Your gifs need to be a maximum of 25 Frames to add as a Sequence, and they can easily be edited Online HERE
this site is free and you can add indiviual layers of 25 frame gifs with transparent backgrounds and add as as many indiviual gifs ontop of or next to each other and it still saves as 25 frame gif
