Heads-Up Galaxy Watch 4 Owners Avoid Software Update!

Samsung’s Galaxy Watch 4 anti-bricking fix isn’t actually working

Story by Pocket-lint’s Oliver Haslam

OH man…not good.

I’ve updated it… while waiting for the watch to update went online to read about the new update, to see what’s new.
Found the “bricking story” while the watch was still updating.
Imagine my horror… :face_with_spiral_eyes:

Fortunately everything went well, everything works.
But I had 5 heart attacks before the update finished.

I had an update showing for my GW4 Classic and I started checking version numbers. I already had the “forbidden” update version and was not having any issues, so I updated also. Doing more searching I found out it is only happening on early August 2021 production watches. The author of that story said it looked like it was a hardware problem on the early watches that was causing the updated version issue to brick it when the battery run down. I never let my battery go below 20% so my battery is never “very” low.

Well, trust me, I was sweating bullets.

Same here even if I “knew” I was safe, but there is always that chance. There used to be a TV show on in the early 1970’s called Hee Haw. They had a group of redneck hicks laying around singing a song with these words.

Gloom despair and agony on me,
Deep dark depression, excessive misory,
If it weren’t for bad luck, I’d have no luck at all,
Gloom despair and agony on me.

That’s the story of my life sometimes.
