Hey everyone! It’s been what feels like an eternity since posting anything on here, I was recently reflecting on how much I have improved in my 5 years of using Facer since creating my first watchface up till now. Also, I thought it would be cool for everyone to share what their first design looked like vs. their latest design. I’ll start by sharing the first watchface I created back in 2020 which was never actually published (it’s still a draft due to how terrible the design was ) because I gave up and thought I wouldn’t pursue making my own designs! Anyway, enough banter, here’s what I’ve got:
First design:
Latest design:
I am curious to see if there is anyone else who’s designs are so stark like mine from then and now!
Yes, I believe I have progressed a bit over the years. as well
One of my first faces, published in December 2021, and the second picture brushed up about 1.5 years later:
Great Topic . I got a Smartwatch when I learned that I could have a Moon Phase on it . I could not find a quartz one I liked for my 70th ( 2020 ) . Then I learned I could possibly make my own Face . I started with Huawei but did not get far . The first one is a Copy of a Clock I made from a Holiday Snap . Well without the Moon Phase . I actually deleted some of the very early stuff and totally regret that .
I am a bit of a Gadget Geek rather than a Graphics Guy and my Personal face has a Data back that shows on Tap . The face has some SR SS stuff that will not work at any other Latitude so it is not published . Sadly it will only work on a WOS5 watch so I have to avoid the OneUI8 Update .
.
I think this is my oldest face on here, with the older version of default hands and weather icons, that are no longer part of default kit in creator…
I did not develop much better graphically, I more focused on testing various functions and when reached the peak, I somewhat lost inspiration. Now on top of that came the dumbed-down format from google, that scrambled half of the nice features…
I like more to do faces on request or challenge or just out of whim since. (for example in the “creator components only” challenge I managed to give the face little shading so it does not look so cheap like my early attempts, but still it is nothing highly polished).
This I consider my most “mechanically” advanced, yet not the most decorated one
That’s not a pilot tribute, The original watch is a limited edition that was commissioned to raise money for military charities. It was bought solely by members and veterans of the Royal Air Force, Tactical Communications Wing, of which I’m a veteran. My version is a copy of that watch.
My bad, being an American, I didn’t know what you meant by TCW, and since it was the Royal Air Force, I automatically assumed it was a tribute to RAF pilots.
