Use the built in LCD font in Facer’s templates, then just set a gray background and use a bunch of 8’s behind the main display font and set them to like 10 or 15% transparent.

That Template already has the 8s set underneath to help us get going .

If you do as Raptor said and you use for the background the text file 88:88 instead of Hours and Mins you have the perfect background you asked for,
