Yes, it would be nice to hear something from Facer, is there a chance to solve compatibility problem.
It’s not a Samsung issue. It’s a Google issue. Samsung have upgraded their Wear OS to v5 which unfortunately has to comply with the new watch format. You will find the exact same problem with the new Pixel watches and eventually Mobvoi etc.
Hi all,
Thanks a lot for all your comments. We just made some minor adjustments to the announcement to explicitly include the Pixel Watch 3 which is also affected by this policy change by Google.
For a number of reasons, we are not able to provide specifics on a timeline or nature of the solution being discussed with Google, but we can share that we are actively working on it, and that the effort is mutual.
We will share more here and on other official channels as soon as we’re in a position to do so.
Thanks again for your patience!
Thank you for the update!
I don’t check here as often as I used to so this replay may be a little late… but 100% this is Facer’s top priority at present. As is the case with so many professional world contracts and partnerships these days, NDAs are in play so that’s why none of us know more than the official statements, but as much as all of us might be impatient or feel an urgency for this to be resolved, for Facer it’s even more so. All we can to do his wait it out. I’m personally confident there will be a solution, but when or what I have no idea
Not to mention, all the official licensed faces as well.
So nothing has changed since I last checked.
@juni00 Keep checking . The recent Companion app revision number is 7.0.34_1108321.watch . The previous was 7.0.33_1108281.watch . WOS5 will be using API 34 we are using API 33 and below at the moment . May be it is Marvin hinting that he is ready but just needs permission to show us what he can do .
BTW to see the revision number Tap 5 times on your Display with a Facer Face .
Sucks for everyone who upgraded to the Watch Ultra that’s paying a subscription to Facer and can’t even use it. Facer taking our money and we’re stuck buying watch faces from the Playstore.
Is the Ultra GW6/7 on the list of watches that Facer says works?
Galaxy Watch 6 with older os version works, definitely NOT Galaxy Watch Ultra 7!
If I buy a Galaxy Watch 6 Classic running Wear OS 4, can I prevent it to be updated to OS 5 so that Facer will continue to run?
If I ever need to reset the watch months or years from now, will the reset process automatically upgrade to OS5?
Thank you
Welcomer @danielmendes.us . Perhaps @Facer_Official or @Facer-Staff could comment on this one . Respondents on this forum are unlikely to know the answer to that one . It is a very good and Timely question . While Samsung and Google are Shooting themselves in the foot one hopes they don’t shoot all those that bought a Smartwatch recently . My kids all use Garmin . Sometimes I wish I had gone with them .
Thank you @russellcresser . Coincidentally, I do have an Instinct 2 from Garmin - but learned its fall detection only works if during a sports activity, so went on checking the Galaxy watches.
Appreciate your suggestion and will try forwarding to the Facer official/staff accounts.
Hopefully they will respond here . They Authored this Topic .
BTW . We went to see a play at the MINACK Theatre ( Pirates of Penzance ) which is built into a Cliff on the Cornish Coast . My Fall detector went off twice while I was sitting quite happily enjoying the show . I have switched it off since .
Samsung didn’t have a choice in the matter. They are at the mercy of Google unfortunately.
Watch 7 is the best by a Country Mile.
Of course they slag it off here because they cant earn out of you
EDIT: To confirm, I updated my W6C to Wear OS 5 (One UI 6.0) and Facer does indeed still work fine.
@danielmendes.us
According to the statement from Facer, you can update a Watch 6 to Wear OS 5 and it will still be compatible with Facer. I’ve included the pertinent quote below. I have a Watch 6 Classic and will be updating soon and will confirm after update.
