I've noticed an issue with opacity and DIM/AOD

OK, so I have a watch face intended to help with battery longevity by having icons that notify you in advance on near charge discharge but I noticed that it was draining the watch battery much faster than other faces.
I realised that the screen was staying at full brightness and not dimming in stages when idle like other faces.

I had 2 bars (2 sets of 3) for a colour fading battery indicater that were visible on both and I wondered if this was the issue so I made the High and Mid hidden on the DIM screen and suddenly the face dimmed as expected.

I have a Fossil Gen6 (WearOS 2) and I was just wondering if others had experienced similar.
The original and updated faces are:

I am not sure If I can help Rob . I only have the Tiny Samsung Active . If there is something you want me to test I will but I am not certain what I will be looking at . I have noticed that hidden layers Steps and Heart rate still show when it comes to publication . Seems to me they are still running . I know when I have Tidied up a design by getting rid of all the test Layers and NOP stuff the face Syncs faster which is always an Indication to me that the File has been improved. I keep very few Faces on my watch often 2 . 1 Facer and 1 Samsung .
When your watch switches to AOD does it Fade . I never use AOD as most faces are Unreadable on my watch in that mode . I am just learning how bright they have to be .

That is an interesting issue to have. I’m not sure I can wrap my head around how an expression could cause AOD to engage, but anything is theoretically possible. I’ve done a watch face or two with color changing battery bars, but never experienced that issue with my Fossil test watch. I will assume we used different expressions.

All my Samsung watches just snap into AOD mode, but my Fossil Carlyle test watch dims the active face first then switches to AOD ambient mode. When I had TicWatch test watches they did the same thing which makes me think it might be a WearOS “feature”.

It drops into DIM/AOD mode on time, switching from the turquise to red font, but with the first face the red font stays at full brightness all of the time where normally, and with the updated face showing only the red battery layers it gradually dims over time.

Back in the days before smartphones when people rarely locked them the go-to prank was changing the language on someone’s phone if they went to the bar without it.
