Just saying......just saying

This may be a bit controversial but…I’m beginning to think that being able to import files from WFS means that Facer will depreciate Creator in favour of WFS, or at least, not give much priority to adding the missing tags or tags that WFS has that Facer doesn’t, like circular text for example. For the common man (or woman) what we have now is probably sufficient. If what i suspect is true then Facer will become just a market place for selling watcfaces and Marvin will be out of a job!

I hope , I really do, that this nightmare scenario is not true and that Facer indicates their intentions soon.

I can say without a doubt that I’m not impressed with Facer’s support for WFF at all. We pretty much can’t do any of the fun stuff we did before and get WFF approval when publishing. We all have to remember though that Facer is a business with the goal of making money. Google threw a monkey wrench into their business model with the WFF mandate. Facer may never be the same as it was in the future.

I shall be patient…
I really hope all current tags remain, also the premium ones, otherwise I will lose interest.

Facer is committed to Facer, you don’t have to worry about that. They allow import of WFS files but they don’t offer support for those faces as they’re built on a platform that is not theirs. Google has mandated WFF going forward. Step one for third party apps is simply to make that work. Facer has done that. I’ve got no doubt they will continue to develop Creator to do as much as is possible within the WFF format. But obviously it’s taking a lot of resources just to deal with the transition and all the bugs and tweaks. When the dust settles from this initial stage those resources can go into actual improvements. …Of course, Google still sucks for killing off so many of the great things about watch faces.

During it’s first few years of general notoriety Google’s motto was “First do no evil.” Those days are long gone, most likely never to return.

I used to work with someone in those days who had an online signature: “Google Is Your Friend”. That concept is long gone.

I remain cautiously optimistic that things will improve. I’m getting constant requests to “update” my watches to work on Watch 8 classic. I’ll keep my seatbelt on for now.

I also will be cautiously optimistic after seeing some of the comments here. However, by now Facer should have some sort of schedule along the lines of - beta test plus 4 months, solve bugs and errors 4 months, add 'missing tags 4 months etc etc. Obviously i dont know the complexity of the task, but, i think that in order to prevent a mass exodus of users to give a preliminary date here in this forum would give us a good reason to remain faithful to Facer.

Facer is well known for being silent on such matters but I think these are exceptional circumstances and the community DESERVES at least a hint of what’s going on.

not likely to happen  For one thing… it’s impossible to know on their end. They are going to be dealing with initial bugs for a while I expect, and that is already unpredictable so trying to look past that would only set up unrealistic expectations. It’s clear that the transition has been the #1 priority behind the scenes for the last year, and for sure it will continue to be so. It’s the biggest 3rd party watchface app by a longshot so they will be throwing more resources behind this effort than anyone else.

I’m surprised they don’t fix the easy stuff first tho, like the fact that images and videos are duplicated every time a WFF face is imported or updated and can’t be deleted. Or that fact that you have to click “Skip” in a web browser to even see WearOS 6 watch faces. This is easy peasy basic website stuff. C’mon man!!!

Stop setting me up to fail!!!

Hope so - ok I’ll change the question. When is it expected to be able to use the weather tag, or, put a sunset tag on your watchface? If the answer is ‘I don’t know’ then that is exactly the reason that a plan is required even the biggest 3rd party app organisationneeds one. As you pointed they have a lot of things to do so don’t worry Facer does have a plan - they are just not letting the users into their secret. Facer have neglected the fact that we are customers and they are a supplier for a long time. We have to remember that their product has been depreciated maybe they should introduce quarterly updates so that their paying customers and free designers know that progress has been made.

By the way has anyone got the tea lady’s email::rofl:

But the answer “As soon as possible/ the second we figure it out” is true. They are debugging - You don’t say ‘we found a bug that will be resolved in 4 months’. You fix it as you go. They are on it

So we don’t know then…

Nope, but as soon as possible (IF it is possible)
