Known Power Drains?

I’ve recently made my first watchface with basic facer creator elements (digital time, heart rate, steps, weather temp, battery level, am/pm, a custom coded countdown feature to a specific date, and a background). The watch face seems to be working well and my wife (for whom I made it) was quite pleased with it. However, she’s noticed that her watch (a Samsung Galaxy6) while being fully charged in the morning is drained to 0% by about 6pm. This did not happen with the previous watchface she used (which was also a facer watch face with a nearly identical background). So, my question is (yes, I finally got there), are there any known elements that tend to be a bigger power hog than others? I wasn’t thinking about optimizing power usage when I designed the watch face, but it’s certainly putting the whammy on my wife’s watch battery!

I cant tell from experience, but I would suspect the weather might force the GPS to activate since weather is related to location (I always forbid it on my watch and it usually later on somehow managed to get the location from phone).

I’ve made some faces with a ton of animated elements and never had any comments or complaints about battery drain. Is it possible there are other apps or something running on the watch other than just Facer? That face is fairly simple and should not be draining the battery as much as you say. As a controlled experiment, load another face and chart the battery drain.

ONe thing my wife mentioned to me today was that “It doesn’t sleep when you aren’t looking at it.” The watch face has a ‘sleep mode’ (or whatever it’s called) and no other settings have changed that I’m aware of that would cause it to never enter sleep mode, but I will check the settings and see if something changed. I assume that ‘sleep mode’ is not controlled by anything in the watch face, but rather by settings in the app or the watch itself?

This might seem stupid bit take the Effects off your Text. I doubt it will help power consumption. But it was a thing for Tizen and is a NOP on WOS. Have you got the GPS on. I always had it on but wonder if it is a big drain on the latest Face Update.
Sometimes Uninstalling Facer and starting again helps. Running Facer on our Watches is quite complicated as it is Third Party. We can expect some drain but not that much.
Check the Little Green Light on the back of the watch is not on all the time . There is a bug there . Th Heart Rate sensor is not supposed to be flashing all the time . If it is not flashing a double Button Reboot is called for .

“Always On” mode is activated, screen is active all day and of course drains battery.
Turn it off. It’s not related to facer.

Yep. Nailed it in one. Don’t know how that got turned on, but it was toggled on. Turned it off. Haven’t heard back today, but I imagine that should do it. Glad to learn it wasn’t some shoddy optimization on my part.
