Light and Shade Fun

Hi everyone this face was inspired by a old watch i just took to pieces and was studdying how the light affects bits and not others needed to test it out so here is my basic version.

Great animation as usual - well done :+1:

Thanks mate do me a favour can you look at the following demo and tell me if its worth the extra work or not the left cog is standard lighting the right one is static lighting with added stuff the static one has advantages if you press the screen you will see it can be moved colours and so on but its more work and i can not decide if its worth it

The static lighting is very cool! I always struggle to know if it is worth putting in lots of subtle detail - my fall back position is to include the detail even if it is subtle and might not be very obvious in the final down sampled face. My hope is that at some level the subtle detail add a near subliminal sense of realism. So if it were me I would go for the static lighting. On the other hand, only you can know if all the extra work is worth it

Thanks mate i will do it as i have lots of time and it will be nice to see it in the original form before down sampling takes place lol.

Beautiful mechanics.

Thank you

i played around the concept a few times and i have done it in multiple faces before , definitely worth the extra work , ads an extra layer of realism especially to rotating objects , i use the effect whenever i can even if i feel its not so noticeable or the element is small !
keep up the good work !

Love the top design and the granite effect used. I also love the extra lighting effect in the left cog in your trial. You never disappoint mate.

I would use a slow sine function for the static light.

Cool thanks i will try that out on the new face i am making
