Limitations on Facer

Update = I made another test, with a red circle appearing when %3 = 0 and the value in a text element of the expression itself. I notice there is no update in the watch, nor for the image, nor for the value. And as expected, it does alter in the creator page and on preview. Somehow I get the feeling that F is not ready for the moon!

I did the same test. Instead of Opacity I used the X-Position to move a shape off the screen. I even changed your formula and used floor. I also put the MOONAGEPERCENT on the display as text.

Looks like this variable is not working on my ticWatch… sorry to confirm…

It does change value, but only the first time, when loading the watch face.

Thanks! In addition I notice that tags as Moondistance and Moonagepercent won’t fluctuate on my watch, but do on creator page/preview!

Addition: in the docs for tags, the Moonagepercent would work for all watches!?

Yeah I jus did a test . Does not run on the watch . So now we need to know when it does update . It updates on sync . My guess is it is updated at midnight or on the hour .

In any case, even when it updates at those times on a watch, why doesn’t it do the same in the creator, or preview. People see something different there from what they probably see on their wrist and they don’t expect that, I presume. I think we should avoid that. Above that, the documentation states it works for all watches. It’s a pity, it does offer a possibility to fake a random event, what others want too.

It seems I learned something about limitations and how the community really tried to help. I hope somehow this reaches the support team from Facer and await what happens there, Thanks!

icrltd4 thank you for sharing “Color Changer Animated”

Didn’t know that font size can be changed and used in formula.
There is always something new to learn! :+1:

Good morning everybody. I thought I would never find a solution for this face, for a while. The discrepancy problem (creator <> app/watch) kept me haunting though. By the way, I noticed that none of the moon tags fluctuates on my Suunto 7, which they do on creator/preview. Which explains why there is no change (randomly) of the background picture.

Then I went through all the tags we have, to see if could find a number with a variability preferably greater than a second and I posed at #DNOW# - as suggested by Russell - but couldn’t find there a position in that value that had the variability I was looking and for. Then I checked if there was at least no difference between the creator and my watch for this tag, none. Promising. Then I thought why not multiply that with a big broken number like pi (for changing/slowing down a certain position in that value), and there it was, staring at me. Then I used this trick of mine, to isolate it and used the modulus formula to categorise it for trigging randomly different images. Made a few prayers and hallelujah.

It’s open for inspection.

I noticed it starts also every time (on creator but I check later for my watch) randomly and it is slightly different from the Moonagepercent-variation (my earlier version and that from Zieneth), but I’m satisfied, it’s not flickering at all (as with rand functions).

Made some other adaptions - cosmetica (the easier part) but it’s beauty I’m chasing - and wo do you think of it my fellow beauty chasers?

Thanks for every inch support by this community.

Hi there, the zooming is triggered by an expression on width and height. You can find it on each background picture when inspecting. It is another way to simulate movement in a modest but noticeable way. Especially to bring alive the lightning on this face, but you can also use it on for example an eye. It changes also the atmosphere, in my opinion.
As demonstrated in this face.

I’ve used Zooming on lots of creations, usually for animational purposes  :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

I just hope our wives will never find out how much time and effort we are investing here…
I mean, when we don’t have time to fix things they asked for six months ago.

As russellcresser says: it could be serious reason for divorce…
