Moto 360 Cut off

Hello,
by chance I stumbled over the moto 360 watch in the facer creator and saw that on this brand (other watches by Motorola as well) there is a black bar on the bottom which can’t be used.

Is that due to a limitation of the watch hardware or some glitch in the creator?

I can’t find a way to upload images to the forum, so please have a look at imgur:

I think it is a Facer Creator issue.
But I have not published any watch face using the Moto 360, so not sure…

It is where the Zebra connects the Display to the Electronics . It was very common in the Early days . The old Timex Indiglo had a little dead band down the Bottom . There is one Preview Watch that has it . I will check when I am on the Laptop .

In Moto 360’s case it is the hardware. It is not a Facer issue. There are probably some old articles online or at Motorola’s community that will give more details if anyone is really interested.

It is a hardware thing. Those early wearables with round case had the display area cut off on one side. So called flat tire design.

That is the MOTO “Flat Tire” that was caused by not having a screen there, but sensors in its place. That was before they figured out that by putting the dark screenless area in a circle all around the watchface for the sensors to fit into was better looking.

thanky ou all for your replies. I was just wondering, and it’s quite unpleasant when you design a round face and have to keep in mind there is an area that users might not be able to see.

Forget the Flat Tyre Faces. How many Faces Suit Square. I often put a battery gauge down there. Make the Faces for the Watch you have. You can not concern yourself with every Variation of Watch on the Planet. What Watch do you have ?

you’re right, one can’t respect all different specialities of all brands.

But you can try to

I usually take care that on square watches the “outside” of the round display is put black, and I try to offer a good AOD mode. I don’t think I’ll leave out the bottom part now, just for an oldtimer watch.

Personally I use a Samsung Gear S3, my second one already after the first one run out of battery capacity after the years, now I use the one of my stepson who never wore it. I also have a cheap china watch (-> ligewatches.net), but I guess facer won’t work on that one. Would be great though, as it has some features i like, like weeks of battery life and a very low price.

Yes . So well done Keeping a Gear S3 Going . I know that Samsung have withdrawn Support for that watch . So we must say Hats off to Facer for providing the possibility to make faces for it . I have just traded in a Huawei GT2 I was not using . It was given to me as a gift . It lasted 5 to 6 days on Battery . The Watches with Home Grown OS can do that . Watches that Entertain Third Party Apps Can Not . We have a choice . I have made Very Special Faces for Square Faces and never got one comment from a Square Watch user . They like to moan about it . But of course they represent a Tiny Part of the market . Outside of Apple .
