My Hex Series, Dark, Light, & International Orange

Every time I like a face I make, I make a few variations. These are my latest.

I published the light and dark versions a while ago and the orange one today. I discovered the color International Orange the other day and had to add it to a watch face. I’ve been wearing it for a few days and I love it.

I really like the week calendar, most of my watch faces use it. I developed the week calendar date setup and formulas with help from this forum.

All of my faces have inspector mode turned on.

Your design is inspiring, I might look into this and create something… maybe using the caffein molecule…

Hex Light is the one I like the best - reminds me of hex head bolts

Are you capable of designing something on your own?

Didn’t mean to offend. That was one of my favorite faces for a long time. One day I couldnt find it anymore (still can’t), so I made my own version of it.
I didn’t remember your name either or I would have given you credit.
Its a great design and color scheme.
All of my faces are my own designs save for that one, though I did modify it to my own tastes.

It even inspired me to make a counter style to it.

@adrianrogalski I looked high and low on your profile to find your Conquistador with no luck . However the Pictures I have seen would lead me to say they were remarkably similar . I have made representations of Faces like the one of the popular GT2 ones . If you compared them you would see that there are a great number of differences as they were drawn with completely different methods by different people .

The CONQUEROR watch face is no longer available on Facer because it has been moved to another platform.
It was designed by me, so as the creator, I have the right to decide where I publish it.

If a watch face isn’t available on platform A but is on platform B, that doesn’t mean someone can just take it and make their own “version” of it—especially when it’s clearly 50% a copy.
I understand being inspired by something, like with LIBERATOR (which is pretty cool), but I can’t accept a direct copy.

What you’re showing in the GT2 photos is obviously a different story, and realistically, no one has control over what ends up on servers/platforms/stores from that eastern country starting with a C—but that’s hardly a secret.
As for those particular watch faces—that’s a 99.5% copy.

Have you seen most of the watch faces on this platform? A large portion are just digital versions of real watch faces.

This is the only watch face platform I use and you made my favorite face at the time unavailable. So I made my own that is, by your own words, only a 50% copy.

If you would like, I can add “This is my version of Conqueror by 69 Design” to the description so that you get your credit. But people will probably be confused that they can’t find the original on this platform.

This is just a hobby for me. I posted that face over a year ago and it only has 100 syncs, it’s not like I’m stealing your business here. Everything I post is just for fun and I make sure inspector mode is on in every one of my faces to encourage the sharing of designs and ideas.

It’s disappointing to see a bigger creator get so fussy at a hobbyist like this and calling me out, on an unrelated post, for copying something you made unavailable. You could have direct messaged me and asked me to give you credit.

Thank you, but its not right to make a COPY, its not right for oryginal creator.

Leave it as you think it will be good. However, I would like it to be strong - copying someone else’s work is not fair - and consequently it is against the law - just like plagiarism in musical works.

If I sell my watch faces and someone makes a copy of it on another platform, what do you call that process? If you copy 50% of the SuperMario Bros game and put it on STEAM, will that be OK?

So now I’m guilty because I stood up for my rights? Well, sorry - I shouldn’t have…

PS: Maybe out of curiosity try copying some developer work from Facer, write that it’s your version and let’s see together what the reaction will be.

I must be .missing something here - I dont see ANY comparable watchfaces in these posts so it’s all a bit strange!

It’s an interesting question though - what is a copy or percentage copy and what is acceptable or not. Obviously a direct 100% copy of somebody elses work is unacceptable particularly if its published without permission and on the same platform. Same with only minor changes.
As far as I know no so-called widgets are copyrighted so a date arc as being discussed here ( I think) can be used for example on a digital or a analogue watchface without problem.
We are in a grey area as most smart watches are in one way or another similar - digital watches show the time digitally, analogue watches use hands to indicate the time and all are more or less the same. So i think that the problem here is that this was discussed publicly!

I took your idea and made it my own. There are endless examples of people taking ideas and modifying them to better fit their tastes especially when it comes to art. You don’t have to like it, but it’s not wrong to do so.

I did make a more direct copy 2 years ago for my own use in case I couldn’t regain access yours again but I kept it in my drafts because I didn’t feel comfortable publishing a direct copy.

When I came up with my calendar I wanted to add it to my favorite watch face. I also added sunrise/set and adjusted the colors more to what I wanted. I already made my own tick marks and numbers and removed the step counter. After that, I felt I changed it enough to call it my own.

I feel my version falls well within fair use laws. I am not profiting off it, I am not taking away your user base (different platform), I changed it enough to be unique. I went and looked at yours on google play and it has all sorts of functionality mine does not. So no, it is not illegal.

If you copy 50% of the SuperMario Bros game and put it on STEAM, will that be OK?

This has happened hundreds if not thousands of times. Look at any free 8-bit platformer.

100% agree. This post was just to share my latest watch faces that I’m particularly proud of.

I believe that the procedure for reporting copyright violations would be to contact Facer. Info here: Facer - Thousands of FREE watch faces for Apple Watch, Samsung Galaxy Watch, OnePlus, Xiaomi, RTOS, VEE Wear, and more
