These three tickets (technically two tickets, but one got closed to the point of there’s no way to reply to it, so that whole tickets just show as closed thing is complete BS) haven’t had a reply from Facer in 15 days, and one of the tickets is 7 months old. This is complete crap!!!
They chimed in after my last rant and made promises. Their interaction with me lasted all of two day before complete radio silence again. I reply to these tickets every one to two days asking for updates and I get ZERO response back. I’m so sick of this. If I weren’t so committed to my users I’d completely bail on this platform.
It appears that all of these are related to import problems. While Support is working on resolutions, have you tried to create your designs without importing anything?
No, I use WFS exclusively. Everything I create works perfectly with WatchMaker, so there no reason Facer can’t do it too. Facer promised they would run a process that would fix all of my previews. That was 15 days ago. It hasn’t happened, and they won’t reply to any of my queries regarding this. This is not rocket science. I actually wrote a script that extracts the preview from the AAB or APK file. Facer was doing this when they first adopted the AAB import feature. Then they decided to get fancy and create animation from the AAB file. Well, many of my faces were set up to look pretty without complications being set. I went thru and made some changes to accommodate their fancy-ness, but the previews won’t update. I typically compile a preview image with complications set so the preview look attractive. I can’t even get that to update in the preview. So now I have a bunch of crappy looking face previews in my collection that I can’t it make me sick to stomach that they so damn lazy that they can’t even fix this tiny little issue.
The other ticket is a face that won’t publish for some unknown reason…I even gave them my WFS source file. It published perfectly on WatchMaker, but supposedly, these people can’t figure it out. I believe they’re just aren’t working on it.
I shouldn’t have to publicly call them out to get them to do their jobs. On WatchMaker if there’s an issue, it gets fixed in less than 24 hours. Often in less than an hour.
Well that’s presumptuous. Two totally different apps and back/front ends. It’s like saying Ferraris are fast, so my Toyota Camry should be too.
You should be happy they allow imports at all.
If I were running Facer, fixing imports from another company would NOT be on the top of my TO-DO list. I’d be fixing my own issues first. And if youre just talking about previews of a face, even if you were talking about Facer only issues, that wouldnt make the top of the list either.
I’m not trying to be mean, but we all know there are issues here and they are working to resolve them all, and just because your issue is important to you, doesn’t mean it gets the same attention as issues that are affecting hundreds or thousands of users/creators.
To sum it up, they’re taking an AAB file, converting it to a APK, extracting a preview image, and sitting it on a server for download. I can do this in my sleep in several scripting and programming languages. In fact, I already several scripts that do this.
It is what it is and life goes on. I totally agree with @Rator and @Linlay Facer is Facer and WFS is WFS. Playstation don’t let me export my Xbox games but I don’t complain. Too much moaning and complaining is part of why I stopped coming here, and it continues all the time.
Hmmm, I wonder if I worked for McDonalds, would they let me bring in Tacos to sell instead of burgers
If you want to Publish Faces on Facer, it’s dead simple to actually do on Facer; what a surprise
They promote AAB imports, WTF is your problem? So because I develop in WFS, my ticket should remain unresolved for 7 months with no resolution to teach me a lesson?
icrltd4 implied it. I’m treated like the red headed step child because I don’t use Facer Creator to develop. Facer is simply a watch face distribution system that has a development tool that was born out of necessity (before standards existed). Just because I choose to develop in a tool that’s not Facer Creator shouldn’t change the way I’m treated. Saying things like, " I should just be happy Facer allows AAB imports at all" is such a childish Junior High School thing to say. I am VERY HAPPY they allow it, they advertised it as a way to get people like me to join up and share our offerings.
Do Facer Creator devs see WFS as a threat or something? I just do not understand the hate? Even when I asked about getting a WFS dedicated thread here so we could share ideas with each other, people got bent out of shape and pissy abut the idea because they felt like WFS people were going to take over. How ridiculous and childish is that?
Posting here was a last resort for me. An act of complete desperation!!! Replying to a Support Request Thread 15 days in a row without getting one reply back from Facer Support feels like they just completely checked out. Even something like, “we’re working on it”, would be enough to keep me feeling like I’m not being completely ignored. I don’t know about others, but beating my head against a wall get old, fast. So I feel like I have no choice at this point to be publicly complain. I mean, just a few words so I feel like people aren’t just playing video games while they’re supposed to be working on the issue(s).
I ONLY bring up WatchMaker because now I have a frame of reference when it comes to support for this type of platform. I was actually asked to be a part of WatchMaker by Alex, the guy that runs the show. He knew I was a WFS guy right out of the gate. He doesn’t feel threated by WFS and told me he wants to actually promote it.
I’ll be done now. I promise to not com here to complain about support anymore. Like I said, an act of desperation. I just don’t know what else to do to get a freakin’ response from this company anymore. I tried being nice, for a long time, but that didn’t work. I’m just poking a hoping at this point.
Bashing people who are here trying to help and give you information about your situation isn’t the right way to go about getting what you want.
I get it, you have an issue and they haven’t gotten back to you. It sucks. Is it enough to stop you from producing and doing what you want? Can you still import your work from WFS to Facer? Is Facer NOT living up to it’s claims?
All we’re trying to say is that everything works as intended, just not to your liking. And you have to understand that one guy complaining about a preview of a face that was imported from a competitor isn’t going to get the same attention as the website being down or the creator not working or publishing failing etc.
I know you understand cause you’re not in Junior High, so maybe just send them another message asking about your issue being unresolved and see what they say.
Is Watch Face Studio a " Competitor " of Facer ( Creator ) ? As with Facer’s Relationship with Apple and their Flirt with RTOS resumably that was all completely intentional . It was no accident that Facer let us import faces from WFS happy or otherwise . Also as with Faces made on the Apple Macs that can not be made on Creator . I personaly feel the Editorial Prefrence that Abounds . While I understand that any Platfom has to have some Editorial Influence I personaly Feel it is Biased .
I’ve sent 40 plus messages over the last 20 days (two separate tickets)…ZERO response. This is the frustration I’m trying to express. I am so desperate that I don’t even know what to do next. Like I said, posting here was a last resort. That didn’t work either, so I guess 'm just completely screwed. I’m done.
WFS is not a competitor in my eyes. It’s just a tool, like Notepad. WatchMaker, Pujie, TimeFlik, etc, are the competitors. It’s just a means of distribution. What Facer should be doing if they want to compete directly with WFS is allow Facer Creator to create AAB and APK files that can be submitted to the Google Play Store. That would be competition. I would actually learn how to use it, it it did that. But Facer Creator and Facer the distributer of watch faces are two completely different things in my opinion. The funny thing is, I pay for having the premium stuff available in Creator, and literally never use it. I pay for Facer subscription too that I literally never use. I do this to support Facer. So I hope people keep telling me that because I use WFS to develop that I should get put lower on the list.
Sorry but WFS IS a competitor as are all the others. To say its not is like saying Linux is not a competitor to Windows, not a big one true, but it is taking market share. So a simple question- which environment do you prefer working in - Facer Creator or WFS? If you said WFS, then Facer is losing out.
I think that it’s true to say that everybody here in the community are frustrated with Facer support and perhaps the reason we don’t shout about is simply perhaps that we sadly have learned to live with it. We are a user community where dissent and different opinions are accepted and indeed,
welcomed - which is a healthy state of affairs.
How is the tool being used to create a watch face that get’s published on the same platform a competitor? Let’s get into this. From your persecutive, I see Facer and WatchMaker as Windows and Linux (not necessarily in that order), and Facer Creator and WFS as Notepad and VI Editor (again, not necessarily in that order). an editor is an editor. WFS is free, Facer Creator is free (except for premium features, is this the part you think is the competition?).
So let’s fix that part. Like I said earlier, I pay for the two things you can pay for with Facer because I want to support the company. If Facer asked me to pay in order to do AAB imports, I’d gladly do it. I’d even pay a higher fee than they charge for the Facer Creator Premium features. Hell, I’d pay $100 a year to get them to answer my damn ticket!!!
Another thing Facer is missing the boat on is, with WatchMaker, when I do an AAB import, I can actually define whether I want my face to be free, or premium. Facer should do this too. What I’d actually like to do is create light (Free) version of faces, and do heavy (Premium) version of the same face. One free, one requiring a subscription. I don’t even care if I’m a partner. I would do this for Facer’s benefit so people would be enticed to get a subscription.
What do I know, I’m only dumb programmer from a multi-generational family of successful entrepreneurs.
Checked again this morning, they still haven’t executed the promised process to fix the previews.
He He @BIELITZ . Let us not get bogged down with Semantics . WFS is a totaly free Face making Platform . Facer is a Comercial entitiy that offers a lot of it s Creator Free I agree but at the end of the day WFS can not compete with Facer . Partly the reason Facer gives an avenue to .aab import .
But perhaps Facer sees it differently. I cannot be certain, of course, but maybe they are trying to prioritise quality over quantity. Still, when I look at the Watchmaker chart, I see around twenty designs using Rolex, Omega, Seiko and other well known watch brands. I would not consider those strong examples of quality. More importantly, unless officially licensed, they may infringe trademark rights and should not be promoted as representative content.
Facer Seems to have no control over Zero effort swamping . However I agree 100% that direct coieis of Popular brands should not be encoraged . I do not know if those makers on WM are Partners . I would hope not . Long live Creativity and Human Endevour .
