Preferred Browser for Designing Watch Faces

Is there a preferred browser for designing watch faces? I’m using Chrome and I’m seeing memory usage over 1GB in the design process. I sometimes get out-of-memory errors.

Thanks!

Hi @rustylee! What version of Chrome are you using? Also, are you seeing this issue with any design? or only those involving a large number of layers? If you can share the URL to the watch face you are seeing this issue on, that’d be great!

Hello,

I’m using Chrome 55.0.2883.87 m.

I copied this link below from the editor.

There are serveral layers, mainly because each object is duplicated, one to handle the “Active” state, and one to handle the “Dimmed” version of the face. If there’s a better way to do active/dimmed objects, I’m all ears

While writing this I deleted an layer (tick marks) and while waiting for the deletion to complete the Chrome 32-bit process in Task Manager went from around 200MB to over 1GB, then settled down. As I write this it went back down to about 313MB.

Thanks!

Thanks! That’s super helpful. Your watch face doesn’t have that many elements - it shouldn’t be an issue.
Let me send that report to our test team so they can investigate. We’ll keep you posted!

Not sure if anything changed, but it would appear the memory issue has been corrected.

Well, maybe not. Still seeing browser memory creep up to over 1GB when selecting an element.

Memory looks normal after adding an element.
