So, the rumors started…
High expectations and probably small changes.
Time will tell.
I have too many watches already, so if the GW8 doesn’t move mountains, I’m not buying.
Not for me. They ruin it with the last bit. I do not want my watch to be my assistant, nor more conversational. That I have my phone for. I do not want to debate with my watch, I want to look at it and see what I need. The watch has to be tool packed with body and environment sensors, not wasting the tiny resources on some shady AI.
Whenever I get a new phone or watch, I always turn off the assistant. I have a wife, I don’t need my watch and phone to tell me what to do!
I’ve never used voice activation but I do use speech recog in ChatGPT and long press watch button to set timers.
My echo is there for timers, alarms and music.
Talking of Google Assistant . It is often running when I pull my GW5 off charge . I have switched all the permissions I can . It can not be uninstalled . I think the Microphone can not be switched off . It uses a little power , not too much . It is obviously just listening but I find it very annoying that it can not be terminated . As the others have mention , I am actually still Married which is always a surprise .
Hi @mrantisocialguy
Mhhh, allow me to doubt. You said the same thing for the other 7 and…you bought them all.
I couldn’t agree more.
I said the same for watch 7 Ultra… no way I’ll buy it… but here we are, it’s on my hand…
Resistance is futile.
That is true, but now I have the original Galaxy Watch, the Pro 5, the 6 Classic and the 7 Ultra of which the first three are Facer compatible. I don’t need another incompatible watch, and I don’t want to trade in any of my others.
At least I’m not the only one!
Absolutely!
Will Facer run on it?
You never know by then. It will if Facer come to an agreement with Google over the 7.
Probably not since Google is in the middle of forcing out all their competition.
That’s what antitrust suits are for.
The only reason I would consider a new watch as long as the old one is running, is if I could get my Dexcom G7 readings on it.
I only got the Galaxy 4 watch because the battery on my Gear 3 couldn’t hold a charge and I couldn’t find a way to replace it. I miss that watch.
I’m waiting on blood sugar levels by LED & sensors. Samsung is “supposed” to be working on that for the 7 series, but didn’t make enough progress. Now they are looking at series 8 if they can get it working reliably.
Im not sure but I think Samsung are working on using a sensor to determine blood sugar levels in a similar way blood pressure is measured. Like @wsilbers mentioned communication with Dexcom (I’m Medtronic) would be ideal.
