Something happened. What was it?

Earlier tonight I updated the apps on my Android phone. I do this just about every day because I just like to stay current. This time I saw that the Facer app was getting an update, which I thought was strange because I don’t recall getting a Facer update in a long time.

The update completed ok - which they almost always do - so I thought I’d open it to see what it looked like. (My watch is a Galaxy6 Classic and Facer faces stopped working on it a long time ago.) The app opened up just fine, so I wanted to see if my Facer watch faces were still there (wherever “there” is.) They were. So of course I tried to upload my favorite face, just to check if whatever it was that broke was still broken.

Much to my surprise my Facer face did upload, and is now running A-OK on my watch. Actually it’s running better because in the past it had trouble updating my heart rate. Now it’s right on. Also, it’s got the current weather temperature which the copycat face I made with WFS never did.

So - obviously something pretty significant happened. But what was it? And when did it happen? Am I the only one who knows about this? Or did I just miss some big announcement?

These Apps get updated by region . I keep an eye on the companion app version numbers . I see tthat has changed but not sure of the app version number . It is good things are working better for you .

WearOS 6.0 eliminated a bunch of functionality and Facer watchfaces made with the previous functionality will no longer function on WearOS 6.0. I’ve designed a bunch of watchfaces and I had to “dumb them down” in order to get them to work again.

I’m still in the process of doing that. I’m just making new updated versions and leaving the older ones alone for those with older watches to continue to be able to use. By the way, welcome to the community @stickler

Welvome - this the best place to be. Theres lots of good people who will help when you get stuck.
Just so you know the changes that have affected your watchfaces are nothing that were caused by Facer - Google is to blame!

I have a number of free watch faces which will not work on WOS6. Most likely just date format issues.
If I create a new watch face for an existing collection, I’ll look the old faces and update them.

But those that have funky features, such as moving the seconds hand into position upon wake, I’ll leave those as is. I miss the #DWE# tag…

I leave all my pre WOS6 premium watch face as is. Interactions, menus, chronographs, and all kinds of options would be lost… Would be a shame. I will not upgrade my GW6 watch because of that.

Is there any work around on the weather location (showing your city) at this point? Seems this is my biggest kickback :frowning:

Not to my knowledge… check here

Yeah its that WFF format, says not supported in this format, default will be used for #WLC# - Bummer. Great list though thank you~
