Steps Counter Intermittent Isssue

Recently I am finding that after rebooting my watch, to get Facer to sync properly, and to get the steps to display properly, I need to select and customize Facer from “Watch Faces” within the Samsung “Wearable” app on my Galaxy S22 Ultra. I have a Galaxy Watch 4. The same thing happens on Android 13 with OneUI 5 and Android 14 with OneUI 6.

It is a bug in WearOS. After you have restarted your watch, you need to sync a stock watchface from your watch manufacturer, then switch back to Facer. Something about doing that wakes up WearOS to start sending step and other watch data to the Facer app.
