I just purchased Oppo Watch X2 (same as OnePlus Watch 3)( Wear OS 5.0)(Android 14) and found out it is not supported by Facer yet so I can’t add any watch face to the watch. I sincerely hope Facer will add it to the list very soon. :pray:t2:

You’ve never been on your own in this community. You just thought you were. :slightly_smiling_face:

How many partners are there and how many come here?

I do not know. I suppose you would have to count them. Considering that this is an international community, not all have English as a native language. It may be that some are not comfortable participating in discussions using translation. When translation is involved in community banter, things can be misinterpreted.

@BIELITZ See this article in Facer News from 4 years ago . Things will not have changed that much .

True, very true! I have worked in several multinational companies where English is only the working language - an important lesson i learnt early on was that not everyone says what they mean and just as importantly not everyone means what they say!

I have to admit that I am out of my comfort zone when having to use a foreign (to me) language, so yes, you are probably right.

I should be more understanding for sure but isn’t participation here part of the partner deal?

I’m not 100% positive but I think that rule encompasses activity on other Facer related platforms as well, such as the Facebook group and IG. Based on the last selection of Partners that seemed to be a component. I know… that requirement may need to be more specifically stated. Staff seems to be updating and giving things a facelift lately, so maybe that will be addressed. Be sure to submit a support ticket if you feel that it is important. If they don’t hear from the regulars here, they’ll view it as not a concern.

I agree, @russellcresser. It’s 4 years old. Perhaps there will be updates eventually, but I think all of us here and there agree that the WFF issue should be a main priority.

Well I’m not embarrassed to say I am confused. My situations is this:

  1. I am a free user and created my face using the free web based Facer Creator
  2. I currently have a Galaxy 6 Classic that runs my free face just fine.
  3. I’m happy with my current watch and do not want to buy a new one (regardless of how fancy is may be.) I also don’t want to have to re-make my current face because I’m not sure I can locate all the components the face uses.

My interpretation of all the above comments suggests that I may have to do something in order to get my current watch to run my current face when it upgrades to Wear OS 6. This is bad news if it is true. If it is true I guess I could just stop doing watch firmware updates, but that is not an appealing option either.

So can someone explain what the “good news” announcement about Wear OS 6 really means? Thanks in advance.

The good news here should be, that what you actually experience (and should be able to experience even after update to wear OS 5 or 6) on your watch, people with newer watches, that come with wear OS 5 pre-installed from factory, can not experience right now, since Facer does not fully work on those watches. The issue should be solved with release of wear OS 6 for those mentioned new watches, probably without the need to update or rework the existing watch faces in Facer’s catalog.

@birkb . Facer is to be admired . So far combining all the OS changes into one Platform Including Tizen . I hope that the updates to incude preistalled WOS5 and WOS6 are as seamless . This is no mean feat . Google have continued to call the operating systems WOS but the they are very very different . The coding under what we see as an OS has changed completely . Facer has to find a way of dealing with this . Some of these changes are made for security reasons . Our Security .

No matter how clever Facer have been, or how many ‘should’ or probably’ have been mentioned, i believe @birkb 's question is - will free faces made to date still work with the ‘New Facer’? This question is not addressed to the people here but to Facer direct and is a simple yes or no answer.

I think that Facer’s answer will clarify things for a lot of people.

I think we all need to be patient. Rome was not built in one day, they say. Of course, waiting is not my best feature. But i wait a little more if the outcome satisfies many expectations, including the ones mentioned here. I hope they have tested it fully and communicate especially about what is not done or possible or functional. Better to be clear upfront especially about what is not there or even ready for implementation. You can save a lot of souls here, be practicing that as good as you can.

I agree with you generally BUT, whether free faces that have already been made will or will not work with the new facer is such a basic and fundamental question that if Facer doesn’t know the answer by now, then there is no hope for free watchface makers and one could think that the new facer will only support paid watchfaces where Facer makes money.

I totally agree. I can only imagine how difficult it must be to simultaneously deal with both Samsung and Google software, especially since Google has long ago disavowed it’s “First do no evil” mantra.

Nevertheless my situation still seems ill-defined, and I am well aware that if bad things can happen they usually do.

We have no alternative, right? If LA traffic (and parking) wasn’t the abomination it is I’d seriously consider driving up to Venice Beach and seeing if one of the Little Lab people would talk to me.
