No - they are more than good enough - I like them. It’s just that the charts are biased towards those with a large number of watches and a large number of followers. I personally have neither. I don’t care about the charts at all - they sre only a bit of nonsense really. I started this topic indicating the same.
The only person that is important to appreciate the design and the time put in on your watchfaces is you - everything else is not important!
I’m happy when one of mine charts, but what really keeps me going is the people who take time to comment on how they like my watchface. That means a lot more to me than meeting the criteria of an algorithm to be included on a webpage.
It’s tough to decide what people will like. Some like digital, some like analog, some like both. Some tips would be to make things a little bigger than you think so they’re easy to read (a problem i’ve had and still do lol) and make things that you think will appeal to a large audience and don’t include niche elements like brands or characters. Not saying those wouldn’t do well, some do, but not everyone is into say, Darth Vader or whoever.
Try to be unique while staying true to form. Include at least a date and battery level. Weather is also a desirable feature, steps and bpm are a little lower on the list I’d think, but whatever you do, make sure the important things are legible.
Bravo @Rator . Well said . I think that is exactly why some Makers feel a little dissapointed Facer Studios jumped on the " Pedro " Band Waggon . But Hey Ho .
Good general description of what are the basics of good smart watch. Not only are there three types of watchfaces- digital, analog and hybrid, but also 3 types of free designer, at least in my opinion- those that design solely to get in the chart, those that design for themselves but are happy if a watchface gets into chart (however briefly) and finally those who design purely for themselves and don’t care about the chart. Me, I’m in the middle in both groups.
@BIELITZ You forgot one catogory . Those who Publish multiple Zero Effort Faces that turn Fresh Faces into some sort of Swamp . That Particular effort pushes Faces with any Merit out the Bottom so quickly most of the Browsing Users on the Planet never get to see them . I think Facer should limit the number of New Faces a Maker can publish to one per day . Give Creativity a chance to Shine .
There is one particular " Maker " that publishes his faces without giving them a title . He pushes out about 10 a day representing 10% of the number of Faces in there . I have actually stopped browsing Fresh Faces . I am glad to see the work of those I follow in my Notifications .
