[Watch Face] Ironworker

This face took its own way through to fruition. I was messing around trying to make a metal background with a clock on it that is transparent to the time, and I think I mostly succeded with a fire through it. After I got that working, the watch looked a bit empty, so I added a fireplace opening, and it looked a bit like a kiln, so I added an ironworker logo to it. It still looked empty, so I added a digitally zoomed second wheel. As some of you know, I like to put way to much stuff on my faces, and found mself wishing i had a button like the paid version to turn on other stuff when you press it. But I’m a scrooge, so i just used the accelerometer to do that. If you tilt your wrist a little extra towards yourself as you look at the time, something extra will display.

Love it, the 2 shine metal finish, the glass flow, the flaming seconds custout.
Could be easily mandalorian themed.
Would love to know your under font animation secret for the time.

Hmm, a Mandelorian theme is intriging.

The time isn’t really a secret. It is simply an inverse (negative) font. That is a font that is hollow and the outline is solid. Then I just made it and the background grey. Then I added an overexposed metal sheen on top, set to 10% transparency, just enough to let the metal finish cascade over top. Then I tied the accelerometer into the rotation of the metal finish, so when you tilt the watch, the metal sheen also changes. There’s also some transparent shading and such going on.

Fantastic piece of creative artwork Brad, with not too much on display at all, well done
Two things I did think of:
Maybe have the Forger at the top animated, actually hammering the iron  (that would definitely add a Mandalorian Theme).
Secondly, I think your Dim display needs some work sorry :face_with_monocle:
.

Mandaloorian armour forging is already strong in the design. Could be played on well.’'Indeed, I had neglected the display of dim and thickness is required on the numbers if not nore,"

Ha! I totally forgot to make an AOD clock. I added it in now, thanks @icrltd4 !

Surprised nobody noticed the little extra when the watched is tilted a bit more. Can be viewed on the phone preview, no need to sync.

Really nicely done, everything on theme, even the weather in place of the smith icon is metallic
Long ago I downloaded one gif for later use, now this reminded it to me.

Thanks @alsx65 . So the ticwatch doesn’t show gifs very well? I didn’t know that. Will keep that in mind.

Actually yes, I have already used that font a couple of times with real weather pix for the the daily forecast. Here’s one of them. Works ok.

The newer Ticwatches are probably a lot better

Great watch, as a fairly Newby in designing watchfaces I wondered how you did that with the seconds, how they rotate like that and the how the present second pops up (enlarges)?

Hi @dutchie65, looks like you have a few faces already, good start.

To make the seconds like that is a bit tedious. You need a text object for each second, so 60 text objects. Yes, that is a pain. In each X/Y coordinate box ad in an orbital expression appropriate for the diameter of the circle you want. In the rotation add in an expression for #dwfss# plus 360/the second number. Maybe more or less depending on where u want the circle. Add an expression for font size if the current second = the second of the text object. That should get u going. Post what you come up with in here so we can check it out!
:beers:
