How do i make a watch face with minute, hour and second hands for my Apple watch?
Sadly we can not on Facer . Beyond the Templates . You can but you will see that it updates on your watch some time every 15 Minutes . You get a notification during publication that it will make the Watch look broken .
Says a lot that the most successful publishes are of the broken, but certainly not lonely.
I can’t imagine they’re syncing the faces for very long though…
Exactly . But there again I could be completely wrong because I know someone who has made a Chronograph to run on an Apple watch but it has to be ported to the Watch by an Apple App . Surprise . But I believe it could be published on Facer but Apple don’t like it . I try to stay oy of the Apple debate .
As with all free designs there is no guarantee it will work. Facer will not approve a premium design like that.
Russell, when someone “goes for it” with a design that they are aware will not work, Facer is criticized for having products that are broken. That hurts the designers of free and premium.
You know Makers show Apple Faces and intimate that they are Animated . We know that the Image only changes on Wake . I am talking about the Famous Branded Faces . Also the are loads of faces that have been ported through the Apple app and Published on Facer by the Premium Makers .
When Apple was opend up to the Free maker some of us made the mistake of having real time stuff on our faces . Got thousands of syncs . Before we were told they were non functional . We all took them down immediately losin several thousands of syncs . One of the Faces from a Master is actualy used as an example of what not to do in the documentation . I wish all the " Go for It " Shit was taken down . Like the Multi Publication of Zero effort Garbage . Sometimes people have to try stuff to see how it does not work .
First of all, two wrongs don’t make a right.
No, I do not know that anyone is publishing non-animated faces and giving the impression that they are animated. I do not spend much time looking at others’ designs. If anyone intimates that non-animated Apple Faces are animated they should note that in their description. If a design from a “Master” is used as an example of what not to do, it may have been created for that reason. You know how to submit a Support ticket if you see a bug or a problem that may have been overlooked. People come to Facer in good faith, I don’t like to see them disappointed if there is anything that can be done to help. Knowingly publishing a design with issues is not helping. If you are aware that there is a 15-minute delay in an Apple state that in the description. Why would you not suggest that?
Ahh Pip-Boy…To be fair, I think that is showcasing that the image does change, rather than trying to mislead and say it changes constantly. Some Facer slideshow based designs also default to that automatically. I think the time should speed up on in the preview or something though to convey that it does indeed only change on wake or every 15 mins. I believe Facer is working on improving previews over time so fingers crossed.
Those are Facer’s Designs. Support would probably like to know about that problem and will fix the description.
These are premium designs? It is my understanding that these must be tested and approved by Facer. Do these not work?
Was the documentation that you refer to not in place when you tried real time stuff?
I agree that multi publication is not cool. Unfortunately, when free is available, some people take advantage. That doesn’t mean it’s ok for the rest of us who are publishing free designs should go for it.
You have got me a bit wrong . I said that the Brands " Intimated " that they were animated as per my Movie example . I never said it was writen .
I was implying a compliment to the Face that was " Broken " and used in the Documentation . I dont wat to invovlke the Master I am refering to he will not want to be dragged into this .
We must have a little room for self expresion on this forum otherwise you will end up with something sterile like the WFS one .
I remain a Commited Fan of Facer .
I support @russellcresser here
This one of those dicussions that will never be black and white.
For me this is free software so i understand that i have to accept that there will be some cr*p, but it doesn’t mean that it is acceptable to have it.
It appears that in Apple’s case Facer accepts watchfaces made in an external application - this is misleading for those who not aware that is the case and that most (nearly all) Apple 'watchfaces( at least those non-digital) don’t work as expected.
As far as documentation is concerned it’s the image that is the priority whwn choosing a watchface and if one has to read in a description or documentation that it doesnt work as expected this is not good. It is my opinion that this key information is often omitted in order to get more synch’s.
I could go on talking about copyright problems but I won’t .
Facer is great now, but could be so much better if it listened to it’s users here.
I think policies and practices have evolved, so some may have crept in before Facer tightened regulations. But yes, I don’t think it’s necessarily any creators fault - Fingers crossed Facer is able to adjust previews to make things clearer.
I don’t think the team likes the faces that hijack users/ don’t work/ are links to external apps, but it’s likely tricky to regulate at this point with so many users.
I think the incoming community manager will definitely be a step in the right direction once they’ve worked through the applications
Quite easy, you open the creator and pick one of the 3 templates with analog time on them.
Note however those hands can not be altered using just facer. Using any template and trying to add any other fluent time related element like hands or second display, will end up in a hybrid face with two separate times, one accurate comming from template and one broken added by you, like described in this article:
Limitations of Apple Watch – Facer Creator
(there may be ways to customize the hands with using different app on iPhone or iPad and importing to facer by “share face” command, but whenever we asked about the proper way to do it, I only remember reluctant, incomplete, evasive answers)
I understand what you were saying. I stated that descriptions should mention the fact that the images are not automated. They change with wrist movement or by a tap on the face. That information is what should be written. If it is the type that changes every 15 minutes, that should be written as well.
Self-expression is fine. What is not fine is rants in Support forums especially when profanity, curse words, or veiled profanity is used to make one’s point. What is not fine is telling someone to go for it with the implication that it is ok to not follow the rules.
