When my Facer face started working a few days ago on my Watch6 Classic the current temperature was displayed just fine. But yesterday i started getting nothing but 0.
Was some sneaky change implemented somewhere I don’t know about? Did the Googlers secretly throw a wrench into the hidden works? I tried rebooting the watch but that did not help. Am I the only one with this problem? Is the Earth about to fall into the sun?
I’ve had that happen a few times. I fixed it by tapping on the weather app on my phone. That updates the weather on the watch. I do the same if the condition disappears, but the temp stays. One of these days everything will work together again.
I guess I’m not as lucky as you. I tried that, but got no response from my watch.
Maybe I have a different or incorrect weather app on my phone? The one I have is called “Transparent clock and weather.” Is the watch software looking for a particular app from which to get weather data?
I believe my Watch 8 is looking for Google weather. I think Facer is or was using Open Weather.
Apparently my Samsung phone is using Google weather so that’s why my watch and phone can talk to each other. I’m hoping that Facer can get into the loop soon.
Thanks for that. I started Google weather app on my android phone and nothing happened. So I closed that and then started the weather app on my watch. Doing that caused the current temperature value to pop up on my watch just like it’s supposed to do.
But the humidity value remained 0. Since I care more about the temperature I will now make Version 8 of my face with only the temperature value showing.
Thanks again for your input on this. It sure would be nice if there was a complete set of documtation explaining how all this works.
OK, I give up. There are clearly things going on between watch & phone that are not comprehendible by rational humans like me.
Using Facer Creator I update my face and removed the Humidity object from the face and slightly repositioned the Temperature one. I saved the updated face with name Bold&Brave8 and verified that it was (and is) included in my set of faces on the Facer website. So I uploaded the face to my watch and it appeared - but with the temperature showing as 0F.
The fact that the F was showing told me the update I made was in fact in the face as it should be, but there was no temperature data to display. So I started the Google weather app on my phone. Much to my surprise the correct temperature number appeared in front of the F. So I was a happy camper.
All that happened last evening. As usual I turned off my phone overnight but left my watch powered on. This morning the watch showed 0F again, so I figured I just needed to open Google Weather to get the temperature data to show up.
But it didn’t. So I tried restarting and rebooting the watch, restarting Google weather on the phone - and nothing helped. Switching to a non-facer face and then back to my face didn’t help. I verified that the weather app had Notifications (whatever they are) enabled. Still no temperature.
I did notice something else - after the watch restarted the Heart Rate showed 0 even though I wasn’t dead. So I did the Measure Heartrate function on the watch and that got the heartrate showing again. But still 0F. So I’m giving up for now.
