Hi, made this watch where i discovered for me, this availability to use bicolor display - in this case white and black (also have a red and black version of it), where alternatively one of these colors is shown because of the moving shadow effect. For example the numbers in the small face, are black upfront, but behind it i copied the numbers, let it rotate it with 1, and changed the color to white. When the shadow does not reach it, you see the black numbers and when it does, the white becomes clear and gives it also a 3D look. You can do it of course also with icons etc. In addition because of the bicolor use, you can also flash the white, when drawing attention. For example if the battery goes lower than 20 % and it also quick to achieve. Or as i demonstrate here, the hands for hours and minutes. The flashing and the white becomes present when the shadows reach them. It gives also a gradually divers look, because the shadow does not cover the totality of the hands or numbers.
Perhaps you used this too and perhaps you can show it to us here.
‘Just another face’ you say…that’s an understatement to say the least! I wish I had the artistic skills to be able to make something like it, so for now it is bookmarked for later use
@BIELITZ Well thank you very much. Always a pleasure to hear from fellow face makers. I try to be as creative as possible. For that reason, i chosen Blender to work with, a steep process for me, but so worth the effort, believe me. Nowadays i am focusing on glass. Reflections, transparence, light and camera movements to capture that all in animations. It is free software and it is enormous. Good tutorials on You-tube. Just wanted to share that, to help everyone to step over the line. Best greetings. Patrick
Thanks so much . I have looked at a few Video tutorials . It seems there are many ways of doing things there . I am not surprised . I will keep on studying .
Another example where shadows are very present is this one.
I made my own progress circle for battery watch. Each little box stands for 10 %. This animation runs for max 5 seconds, depending on watch power, when it is 100 %.
All stuff made in Blender, where i learn every second something new. Which i want to bring in the praxis immediately. Now i learned how to use a shadow catcher… Damn, should have named it SHADOW CATCHER. But the other title brings also music to the ears.
I like it - the colour, the shading and the shadows give a very atmospheric look. I don’t see your battery gauge though - im on my mobile maybe i need to be in creator?
All my faces need awakening to see the full animation. Because also the progress circle for battery display is animated, which is set to go off at awakening. I feel it always a little bit sad, that animations are not showed at browsing level, but need to be triggered.
The other method, at synching, i do not know about, never tried that.
Surely awakening in the creator will show everything to. But going from to dim to active, will do the trick, i hope…
