Who needs a battery status indicator- well anybody who has a smartwatch is the answer!
There are many reasons why it’s necessary- different watchfaces, different complications,  AOD, counting steps, messages, weather, etc,etc.
Some batteries last a day, or two days or maybe more - but it’s the last minute that counts before it shutdowns and it’s important to know exactly when.
Below is a watchface that is a battery status indicator that tells the time…it’s dedicated to someone in the community who frequently reminds designers to add a battery status indicator (the clue is in its title)

            I’m going to publish it in the morning - the text on the battery changes as the power drops. Oh yes I nearly forgot- you also remind me to duplicate and publish with inspection on.
