Recently I noticed something, that I never paid much attention to, as I do not rely on the weather data on watch (which repeadly show unreliable refresh rate). I mean how people in general understand the wind direction data?
I aways thought of it as direction where the wind is comming from so whenever I tried to display it, I either used wind icon depicting the blowing stream or a pointer to where the wind heads to, which is actually 180° opposite side.
What way would you prefer, or understand better?
Icon

or ponter in direction the wind is heading rather than where it is comming from?

Pointer. There is no doubt about wind direction with pointer.
Icon… Does it blow from left to right or vice versa? It’s not clear.

I prefer a pointer.
And yes, weather descriptions state where the wind is from. So should be 180°, but I did not pay much attention to this either.

That is what I thought when checked modes on your TX-M102 G-F2 PRO and it made me curious about general perception of this topic.

You said it. Weather on Facer updates only few times a day, every 4-5 hours, so it’s basically useless.

I use this Wind Icon and set it so the pointy bit is where the wind comes from and the billow where it is going . I am happy that is correct as I use it as my wind direction compass and confirm it is still working very time we go for a walk .
I have always understood that the wind direction is where it emanates from .

Just to complicate things -
In meteorology, wind direction is always described by the direction it originates from, not the direction it’s going.
So using @petruuccios 's splendid image it shows a North Westeriy wind.

I used wind direction in one of my faces just recently and was trying to work it out. I took it as being where the wind was blowing from and used a pointer appropriately. IIRC I had to flip the pointer 180 degrees.

Yes . My pointer is set at 270 so I have to adjust it anyway .

@russellcresser I like your idea of showing wind 'direction ’ on a rotating compass

Seconded, well 3rded given the image from petruuccios.
I do also also use simpler arrows for visibility depending on face style.

Thanks for that - this is one I will never be able to unsee

I think it has prior rights as the default ‘From-to’ for images… But, on the expression.
