Big upfront Leicester Ginge
The other one
Had to include ALL of them, innit? And right on we did. So cool!
Dang it! BBC is very geolocation to me. Have to d/l all my beautiful series âhalf-legallyâ anyway (newsnet), but âMorning Lifeâ? No can do Can you send me a vid? office@mrscolumbo.com?
By the way, one of my best friends actually is from Leicester!!! His name is Andrew Benjamin Tidmarsh, an artist, of course! He resides in VIenna now (10-12 years or so), but heâs an absolute Leicestrian - son of a bobby and later pub owner
( I really hope Iâm not getting too private ⌠just in the mood for it)
I was called Bobby by my first regular pub landlord at 16 in '91 soâŚ
78p a pint
And no, for me anyway. Others can chip an and say as needed
Okaaaay, I meant, he was a âvillage copperâ. A police man. Is âcopperâ english? Or is it U. S. of A.?
âPolicemanâ or âLaw Enforcement Officerâ would serve the purpose. âCopâ is considered slang and is an inappropriate term by many.
I may be compelled to inject some levity here. Itâs neither derogatory nor slang - just a bit of both Are you a, I cite, Law Enforcement Officer, whom I got on the wrong foot with my post? Remember: Iâm entitled to my quips
Copper
Bobby
The Fuzz
The Law
If you are a Copper it is The Job .
Yeah, I got that. @ Linley: chan urrainn dhut a dhèanamh ceart
No, not in that way. I do have many followers who are. I always try to be respectful. Being a law enforcement officer in the US is an extremely dangerous job. Every single one of them has my respect and heartfelt condolences to their families who have had to deal with their loss.
No doubt. I was talking UK slang, to be precise. Sorry if something of that got you the wrong way.
âBobbyâ refers to Sir Robert Peel, the founder of the Metropolitan Police in London. Pretty British
âCopper,â is a mainly, though 50s, US slang I think, re-introduced to the UK because of the badges?
This is an international community. It is public. All of us need to remember that.
I will
Why I am filling in the etymology.
No offence was made or taken, just curiosity.
Meh. Rubbed some1 the wrong way as it tends to happen. No harm done.
