šŸš€ A new era for Facer Creator has arrived!

It’s definitely been super laggy the last couple of weeks. Best thing is to send in a support ticket. That’s how they track and prioritize things. I don’t believe it’s slow because of WearOS 6 support directly, I think it’s a bug that was introduced at the same time. So hopefully they can tackle it soon!

@kvansant
That seems to happen on my end almost every time Facer Creator has been updated. After a week or so it goes back to normal. I always figured it was just part of the process.

On Mac, the Facer Creator is still version 7.0.0, there is no newer version.

And nothing has changed, I cannot use Facer Creator, it takes forever trying to load a watch face.

Currently on MAC

  • Firefox: slow - not usable

  • Opera: slower that before - not usable

  • Safari: does not load watch faces - not usable

  • Edge: too slow - not usable

  • Chrome: bit slow, but can work with it

Oh . I am so sorry . I did not realise it was so Bad . Could you run Unix from a memory stick .

Facer should take another look at WatchMaker Creator. I have only used it a few times on my tablet. Whilst its designed to be used on Mobile Phone, it works great. Its fast. It only supports portrait use, which is a shame, but I cannot fault it on its ease of use and speed. I wish Facer Creator was this quick and its Functions/Tags/Coding elements were as conveniently displayed on the screen with instructions like they are in WatchMaker. This obviously is a Android app and not a web browser, but it does not disappoint. I still love Facer however, for the social element which WatchMaker cannot match. Would love if the two companies merged! Best of both!!

I would be afraid, that of such merger we could receive worst of both.
While I like the freedom for coding in watchmaker app, and handy tools for circular texts and indexes, I highly dislike its android based nature. I can hardly imagine making images on tablet, impossible on phone. Or if preparing them on PC, then shipping them to phone or tablet, then trying them out and for corrections repat the route each time.

Watchmaker is literally one guy. Facer is a staff/team. There were some cool things about WM but support was not one of them because it was basically non existent. I still have their Live Wallpaper app on my phone only so I can have one particular face I made years ago as my phone wallpaper. But that app has a really annoying bug that has not been fixed in over 6 years. I used to send in an email support request a couple of times a year for this issue, I did that for few years. Never heard back once, and the problem was never fixed.

I am finding Facer is now getting more stable for me and I am able to publish watches in WFF which 2 weeks ago I could not (and they are the same watch). So they are fixing bugs. It is still very slow though… but tbh, its always been slow for me… i create watches on tablet, rather than laptop/desktop, and just thought that was reason for slowness, but seems its just getting super slow because behind the scenes Facer is creating code to support every watch platform. A few weeks back, even if I deticked the WFF format, watches would still not publish complaining about WFF, when it should not have even tried to compile it for WFF… Not sure if that is still an issue or not?

I also am confronted on my win 11 pc with Edge, of slower processes, the waiting game to upload faces. I assume their test scenarios include performance testing, but it is all unclear to me if so. I can guess they are now a bit overloaded. Good test scenarios with aid of major face makers can be efficient. Don’t know if people for example of the forum were invited to participate in validation processes, reworks etc to detect in time bugs, errors, before releasing a new F Creator version.

Still i wonder if this idea and strategy of umbrella, to be compatible with so many evolving OS (probably too many), how they work it out, does this not take down the speed of these processes of synching, uploading or perhaps future and past functionalities, etc. We will of course notice…

Yes, ā€œthe powers that beā€ are concerned with speed. The tickets that everyone sends are valuable for reporting and addressing issues. Obviously you will need to use a good title so it goes to the correct team.

They only employed a software engineer recently - before that it was probably the tea ladies job

To be honest what Facer had done prior to the latest beta is amazing. To have Apple, Android. and Tizen running all in one app is really something special. I’m pessimistic that all will be fixed anytime soon, but, I’m sure it will be fixed, maybe with some compromise but it wii be fixed - eventually

Progress is on a need to know basis as far as Facer is concerned and it seems we don’t need to know

That was the newest one added - not the only one on staff. I’ve not come across any ā€œtea ladiesā€.

You are of course correct - FACER must have software engineers prior to the latest addition, however, what i am really inferring is that it was a coincidence that a new person is employed and then the beta is released. As far as the tea lady is concerned it’s probably an age thing - I’m a pensioner and any large American oil company i worked for during the 80’s and 90’s always had a tea lady who came round mid morning and mid afternoon with a trolley of goodies and coffee one could buy and always willing to chat for a moment. He/she always knew what was going on in the company - hence my reference to finding out things by asking the tea lady.

Facer has the most remarkable user forum ever and input from users regarding bugs and othersproblems with its software are for sure extremely valuable and not only that the testing the users carry out must in my opinion make for a better and quicker release of the production software. The reason i say all this is that i thonk that the forum DESERVES at least some hint of what is going on - not too much to ask in my opinion. I could of course ask the tea lady if there is one!

As with Referring to the Server as MARVIN talking of Facer’s Tea Lady is not Derogatory in my opinion. I think the terms Illustrate the affection most of us hold for Facer and it’s Community .

I feel like we’ve had plenty of hints about what’s going on, there’s just not much more to say beyond ā€˜we’re working on it and doing our best’
