Apple 7 mod faces black

I have an Apple Series 7 watch and have tried downloading several mod watch designs. I get black screens. I paid for premium to get some of these designs. What is the problem?

The information in the following post might help:

I have premium subscription and it happens with both free and premium faces. I’ve allowed all features.

What I suggest is to do the following:

  • delete all but one face from the Watch App
  • check that you have the latest versions of IOS, WatchOS and Facer
  • turn off your watch
  • restart your phone
  • when it is fully running and you have internet connection, open Facer on the Phone
  • check that you are logged into Facer
  • restart your watch
  • wait for it to fully start
  • find the Facer app in the App list ON YOUR WATCH and tap on it to start it
  • on your phone, find a Facer face you want to load and sync it
  • follow the prompts to sent it to the Watch App
  • if you don’t see the complications trying to load on your watch, again tap on the Facer app on the Watch until you see the message telling you that the complications are being updated.
  • wait for it load on your watch

Give it some time.

Still nothing? Restart your phone and watch again.

If after you do all that and the face still fails to load properly then sorry I am out of ideas and the best thing to do is to ask the experts at Facer to help: https://help.facercreator.io/hc/en-us/requests/new

…

A couple of extra thoughts …

I have theory about why this failure to load might sometimes happen, no idea if it is correct or not but the above steps have worked for me on the couple of occasions over the past year when nothing would load…

My thought is that maybe a complication on one of the faces in the Watch App has a communication issue that is preventing the others from loading or maybe there are too many faces in the Watch App and therefore too many complications asking to be updated causing all of them to time-out and fail to load. In any case, deleting all but one and restarting has fixed it for me those two times.

…

Another thought is that some of the free faces on Facer have not in fact been created with Facer and when you try to sync them you are asked to install another App and, although unproven, my thought is that they could cause issues. I have never done it but I would suggest that you don’t sync any of those faces, or it you try to, don’t agree to install the App.

It somewhat worked. I had to fiddle with the “face” a little and while it doesn’t appear exactly like the one I chose at least it’s not a black face with the time. Thank you so much for your help

You are most welcome :slightly_smiling_face:

Thank you for this information. I was very close to deleting Facer altogether.
