Can't re-open draft designs

In the past I could work around this by using a different browser.

Now, I can’t open a saved face design draft in Firebox, Opera, or Chrome.

I’ve had this happen sometimes. I haven’t figured out exactly what it is but seems to be cookies related. Usually a day later it will open again. Sometimes other browser it will open now, sometimes clearing out Facer stored browser data will fix it. I reported it a long time ago but they weren’t able to reproduce it.

Have you tried making a copy of the draft and opening that instead? You could also try an incognito/private window, logging out and back in, or testing whether a completely new blank face opens normally.

That has worked in the past, but it did not work in this case.

I have not tried the logging out and logging in. I did try to open another draft item, which failed, but not a blank one.

In this case, I was not going to publish either so I’ve removed them. I will try these other suggestions with something new. If that doesn’t work, I publish even if the face is not ready next time I’m making a new face and have to stop in the middle.

Thanks.

Created a new draft with just a stock hour hand. Saved and closed. Did not re-open.

Signed out and in, did not re-open.

Cleared cache in browser for Facer. Did not change results.

Tried all that in Opera, which was my fall back up until now, draft face did not open.

I can re-open a published face in the editor.

That doesn’t sound like anything I have seen. I use the Edge browser for Facer. It seems to be the least glitch prone, but I have to restart it if I’m working on a watchface very long. I’ve learned to save then work a little and save again. Mine just normally freezes up instead of not wanting to open a draft watchface. I even go so far as to shut the browser down every hour or so and then open it back up after a minute or two. That gives the memory a chance to clear and free up more memory.

That’s really strange. The fact that even a brand-new draft with only a stock hour hand won’t reopen seems to rule out a problem with a specific design. Especially since you’ve tried multiple browsers, cleared the cache, and signed out and back in. This is starting to look much more like a Creator or account-side issue.

When all else fails try the Brave browser…

That’s an important clue. Since published faces still open normally, while drafts don’t, and I don’t have the same issue, this looks much more like an account-specific problem with the draft system rather than a browser or general Creator issue.

So it’s related to my user account? What do I do about that? What changed to make this happen?

It certainly looks account-specific, but only Facer can confirm what changed. I’d contact Facer Support and give them the exact test results: published faces still reopen, but existing and brand-new drafts do not, across multiple browsers.

Installed the Brave browser. It does no better than the other browsers I’ve tried. Created a face with just a stock hour hand as before, saved it, went back to Creator page with all my faces displayed. Click on edit for the new test face and it sits there forever showing the progress ( or lack there of ) indicator.

I’ll have to report this to Facer in some manner it sounds like.

Reported to support.

From the opening screen with all the faces, it is difficult to get to the bottom links. You scroll down and before you can click on the blue text links more watch faces get displayed. But, I did manage it after several tries.

In my opinion you have tried everything possibe. As I understand it was ok before so it has to be a @Facer_Official problem now.

This is because Brave uses exactly the same engine as Chrome and Edge (Chromium).

Interesting, View opens the test draft. Shows the black background and the hour hand.

Edit still does not work.

Interesting, at least View works. Since Edit still doesn’t, I think the best next step is to wait for Facer support to look into it.
