So, I created a face and spent a good amount of time on the face. After finishing the face I came up with a name based on the look of the face, and not a game title! The watch face has nothing to with what I assume they thought (or their ai copyright bots thought) is HALO the game. I named it Ingnis Halo. Like come on.
After uploading, BOOM, face gone. No warning, no “Hey, might wanna change that name”. And now after emailing them I have not heard back yet. I will gladly change the name but I fear they have lost the face totally. Any help in the matter would be awesome and greatly appreciated.
Always make a copy of the face you’re about to publish, it happened to me once and i got hit for copyright.
If you dispute the claim via email and it’s a legit claim, they will reinstate the face. I dont think it gets deleted…
Love hearing this. Now to get a reply from them. I had no idea “Halo” would throw a red flag. What about Angel Halo… lol.
They’ll get back to you. But I wouldn’t use anything like Halo or Doom or Navigator or Oyster. There’s a list somewhere, but couldn’t hurt to do a quick search before you publish next time to see if it’s a brand you might just not know of.
Thanks again for your time.
I created a Facer banned word checker some time ago. You’re welcome to use it. Facer Trademark Checker
Sorry for the intrusion, and not even on the same level, but this happened with a screenshot I made of an image, and you responded to me, and then the screenshot was released. It didn’t take long.
@jivestaroso . Well done . I could not find the link to your checker . We mut remember none of these lists are Foolproof . The best Defense is DUPLICATION then PUBLICATION .
You will find in the future it’s best not to name anything except in the most generic way possible. I have made up names for watch brands like Amish Fit, Americatron, R.F. Williams and several others. Also never make the name as a text element, in the description or the actual watchface name. I always use a picture of the name. I also name all my watchfaces as alpha numeric, ( MAG 0000 ). @russellcresser’s list are all known words that WILL get your watchface a copyright strike.
That is sort of true. If the word Is on that list, it means it has been copyright struck in the past. But the list is not all encompassing!
I added Halo to the list last Christmas after one of my angels was flagged and restored. All Halo Games In Chronological Order
The veiled profanity may not help your case.
Good news here! Hope to hear from them soon.
Edit. Sorry was just venting as it was like instant. They should have a warning upon uploading. I know as a user/creator I should read stuff about creating. But say I did which I’ve read a good amount of rules and other things here. But to remember or check every name every time is kind out dated imo. So many tools can achieve the scanning of names upon uploading.
Again, I fixed my earlier frustration.
I have had strikes using what I thought was plain english like Zenith and Cannel misspelled to Chanel . We will find as the Bot ( Marvin ) gets more Educated that we get more strikes from visual similarity . Hovever at the same time some Product ranges are left free for imitation like Nike . Oh Well .
If it is any consolation, I understand…I also love a looter/shooter game, but I know shooter is gonna be an issue, looter seems to be safe, but yeeah, it is ALL about the names and tags regardless of the content. Be safe friend…if you dupe it and rename it you should be okay.
I can’t see the face to duplicate it. It’s gone. I’ve emailed but no reply yet. Thanks for your support.
You have to duplicate before you publish.
