[Edit] Just Another Circular Text Thread

Yeah, you’re both very right - problem seems to be that I don’t really know (I have no experience with this) what to expect from rendering a 1200 x 1200 px path image in PS to 320 x 320 rasterized PNG. THe thnickness of the font will most certainly be a problem. It’s one of those things you think you remember having worked out much better at some point in time, but actually is a physical fact, and the memory is faux.

Hm :frowning:

Ah, I should have mentioned that my original PSD (are you able to download it? I hope I did the link correctly) is 1200 x 1200 px, and I exported it as is, i.e. the same resolution. Maybe I should first resize to 640 x 640 px in PS BEFORE exporting? I’ll try this a.s.a.p.

I still didn’t try and work with your cool template! Got caught up in PS, want to try it with PowerPoint, too! GImme some time, I’ll have a gander at that, maybe it’s the solution!

Also for numbers, ticks, anything whole face, make it 640 and Facer reduces error when resizing rather than amplifying.
For images that are like stickers I go for 320 or 160. Normally the latter as a battery icon saved as 160 will resize as 80 in facer. Basically it auto halves size to preserve resolution.
So. Face size image 640x, anything smaller 320 or 160 depending on usage.

I still think that canvas resolution of 320x320, to which are bigger images automatically reduced is not the actual stored resource resolution. So I think of it just as grid size, and I tend to insert oversized images without any big thoughts. The actual size it works with was never disclosed, even thought it was discussed many times. Also the watch or Facer software are not capable of rendering true vector images any cleaner or sharper than downsized bitmaps, so I do not see point in bothering much with it. You wont hit the 1:1 pixel ratio with all the different watches displays out there anyway…

Hahahaha, Completely senseless date wheel construction:

OK. I have done a bunch, in a shed load of testing and the Facer image reduction algorithm does seem to cut the proverbial condiment at last.

I’ll still stick to an external to get down to 640 for face size and 320 or 160 for image on face size though.
Just heid numbers.

I 100% agree!
So far, i haven’t worried too much about resolution. All my watchfaces look ok to me on my tiny watch (GW5PRO). In actual fact, I have no idea what resolution I’m working with apart from 320 in facer. My artistic skills are minimal, so maybe i will have to worry about resolution later as my skills improve.

WFS is 450 and that is google approved. The GW6 has 432x.
It is one reason fonts in Facer are a little off as it offers more resolution than the watch and, rounding.
A designer with 450 will have rounding/offset problems as neither divide into the watch resolution exactly

Hence/thus → 640 px. I think I may get it finally.

Canvas to 660 for FX and outer select, inverse, crop to finish (on a full circle mask, no need for canvas expansion on an image that does not touch the edge).
Getting out of this zone but remember it for later. No need on an image dial.

Okay, thank you, mate, that makes sense. I realized that white on black probably shows every nook and cranny in the most debunking way. Were I to display those names and numbers, say, like metal imprints, chiselled gfx or something like that, those downsizing problems wouldn’t be very noticeable, I guess

Start bigger, do your stuff then resize to xx by xx and save your template.

Yea, I do most of the Photoshop stuff in 1200 x 1200. But as I posted: White on black probably is the most revealing canvas for aliasing probs

White/black is the best start as BG deletion is only a matter of tolerance and you can always invert to white for final.

I’m staving unemployment and homelessness. Just making faces would be nothing without the community.
(no drama, I have a roof and, obviously a PC setup but food is still an issue month to month)

Gonna Just say, love your stuff

Damn, that’s harsh :frowning: I’m self-employed, so I’m fair game for tax and social security who gobble up more than half of every Euro I earn, so it’s a bit similar - money’s always an issue at the end of the month. But hey - life’s a wild ride. And thanks yet again for your kind words! The love for the products is mutual - gotta wrap my head around text-based things, too, in the near future.

It is really a fun diversion, and not far off from your arc only stuff.
