How many syncs to make the top 100?

I’m fairly certain it’s all algorithmic - I don’t think there is any bias/ human selection involved.

Two days ago I had this one in the top 100 with only 32 syncs but a ton of likes.

It is now off the top 100 list. So I still have to assume it’s the combination of likes and syncs that puts them there.

Once you gave something there you must try your best to use that to pull up your following Face .

I would trade all my synchs for more interaction, more stories. I would prefer a Top 20 Forum partners instead of the commercial top lists too. Face makers reviewing other ones. Those sharp knives…
And let’s face it, how long stays a face on a watch. How deep is the love. I love face making and that is my main thrive and yeah sharing too. But my price is interaction, some comment, some story. Few pay them.

I know somebody who works at the ER somewhere in America, helping bleeding patients. She is very generous with her comments as she is probably in life. And i imagine her walking through those hospital spaces, wearing a face of mine. Perhaps too much imagination, but it helps me carrying long.

She asked me now and then to make a face, an assignment, yeah!
Once about a Japanese cat luck charm. She needs it. And she was so happy. Made my day. More than any forum.

It’s very hard to review other designer’s work.
Something I like you’ll find lame, something you like I’ll find wrongly designed…

I would like Top 100 to be turned to Top 500 or even Top 1000.
That way more well made watcfaces would be visible for longer period of time.

Yes . Commenting on a Makers Work must be your preference . I have had some spot Howlers in my Faces . Like 4 where 5 should be . Roman Numerals are often wrong .

You shouldn’t leave sensitive tasks to artificial intelligence :grinning:

I can sign this too. Comments to one of my very niche topic face made me happy that there is actually someone using it in the way it was made for.

Hi Peter. Lovely story and so rewarding. Great to see how you search for medical applications and execute them so well. Another beautiful expression what sharing can bring. Adding great value to what you do.
Best greetings

Sorry, but I will not scroll to the bottom of top 1000 to see what happened to my face.  My face will probably sadden with every scroll i make!

True, we all are different and we all make somehow different faces. And there is of course the freedom for each to do or leave what he/she wants. But the same remarks you make, apply to everyone - customers included.

I got some nice faces, based on what customers said or asked, politely.
Once i got a request; can you make a face about a beach and use what happens on a beach to show time. That was a challenge. He was able to participate in the process how to make such a face and for me there were technical challenges, which i like… mostly.

This is what come out. I say, you can always say no but i will also say yeah, thank you. Somehow that allowed me to become a better face maker.

And here are examples of what can get to Top 100.
Both watchfaces are listed at the moment in top 100.

Here is one made by our friend mrantisocialguy. I find it very interesting, well made, with the original idea:

and here is one made in 30 seconds but also listed in the Top 100, even ranked higher:

I really don’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings but I don’t think the second one should be listed.
Just my opinion.

So - no rules to get listed.

I hadn’t noticed mine had made it. It’s all on the whims of the end users and the logarithms of the top 100 list. On the second watchface I understand where you are coming from, but I can also see where it would appeal to a large number of the ladies.

I agree. I guess I can see it too.

Intrestingly my wife’s watch which is Custom Surprise is a 2 Colour morph with some BUbbly Numerals . It has a Touch Data back Date , Steps and Heart Rate . That is all she wants really . The main Gig is the Accessories . She has a Pink Gold GW2 and Cover to match . No Analogue and Definatly no Divers Bezel . I think those two are fine examples of Chart Material . One for the Boys and one for the Girls . As my Craft Developers I Find I get less and less Syncs and the Idea of chatting is Total Fantasy . My biggest Buzz is the Comments I get from Makers and the small Following I have . If on person syncs it I am very Pleased .
I can show you What not to do as well .

I just wish there was a way to be rewarded through improvement. I have a lot of issues with the top 100 list in many ways but it’s no use pointing them out. I will say though, that I just wish Facer would have a more robust system to perhaps better distinguish between the skill levels of makers. What I am saying is maybe there should be a more tiered system to the Top 100 list and perhaps more than one Top 100 list.

First of all, no offense to Creator Partners, but I think the free face makers such as ourselves should have our own top 100 list. It’s incredibly hard to make a dent when Creator partner just shows up with a Face and immediately, their 1000’s of followers will vault them up into the charts.

The only mechanism for newbies to build followers and their identities/niches etc is through making appearances on and climbing up in the charts. So it’s entirely unfair to be on the same playing field as Creator Partners.

When talking about tiers, it should also go the other way as it is incredibly hard to make a dent when your face gets washed away in a sea of watch faces because a user decides to upload 20 versions of the same watch that took them 5 minutes to make. It’s stupid.

So, why not make more than one top 100 list? For example a list for beginners, intermediate, advanced? And the way you ascend to a new level is based on your performance in each top 100 list. I don’t know how it would work, but let’s say as an example, promotion to the next tier could be based on syncs, or top 10 appearances, etc.

I feel what this could do is give designers who ascended to the highest level through the merits of their work a real chance to stand out and even BE NOTICED by Facer within their own platform. I feel like their eyes are in other places to get new partners, and not even here at all. It also can inspire people right out of the gate to try to improve their skills in order for them to ascend (if they are serious about doing so).

Anyway, just my 2 cents and I have a lot of ideas about what I would do if I ran Facer, but I don’t so who cares right? Perhaps my ideas will only be looked at as a rant, but I think some would agree with the premise of what I am talking about and they also feel the frustration I feel too. Who knows…

Here is an Idea . Someone sets Up a account I will do it . I had a Facer account and Posted the stupid initials series on it . 2 initials 676 Faces was going to take a while . It was meant to be Provocative but I did not Provoke any one .
We could have a Wiki Topic on here With basic rule and I could put them in the Special Account . The thing is the Users would not see them if they were just on here . I don’t know if it would help people get legitimate syncs but make a Comment . The exersize to make 676 Faces exactly the same did not draw Attention .
