I Wonder Some Days Why I Accept Requests

Apparently you can get pretty close to emulating the king of the range, the Moog analogue synths these days.

You just made my day betterā€¦

I am way late here, and Iā€™m sorry to bump an old discussion, but everything in this post is exactly why I hate my day job. This sort of nonsense is my every project, every minute, every day. Nothing turns out looking decent in the end when the customer is always right. I 100% understand your frustration, because I feel it too! Learning to say ā€˜noā€™ is something I perpetually struggle with, but if you donā€™t, you only make yourself more miserable.

I would not have minded it so much if the ā€œcompleteā€ request was made all at once. It ended up being 3 different watch faces, not including the original one the request was made on, by the time they got it all of their wish list completed.

You are preaching to the choir, but I love this songā€¦ haha. I agree, a thousand times over. The number of times Iā€™ve thrown my hands in the air and said ā€œPLEASEā€¦ Have a meeting, call your mother, show your dog, send it to your wifeā€™s book club, get a consensus and then get back to me.ā€
Time costs money, and they donā€™t understand how much time something can take even if it seems simple to them.

When I am working it is part of my job, and a part I enjoy, the consultancy of differenciating what someone initially wants from what they need, but so much harder to here. The problem is that at point of request the possibilities are unknown. At point of preview release the potential of what can be done is reveales and on use they realise that their initial requirements were way off the mark.

In a company producing a product we work as a consultancy knowing the field and suggesting better ways for a client to manage things based on our experience of what they are requesting from us.

With a watch face it is a verry specific. 'ā€˜Make it look exactly like thisā€™, followed by ā€˜but add this that and the otherā€™

I actually deliberately postponed the turquise text version of a range to last due to reviews that just read ā€˜Make it blueā€™

I had to let yaā€™ll knowā€¦ I LOVE pictures of your doggos! My shiba is actually a rescue from an owner who had a major stroke and the family couldnā€™t care for him (he was 11 yrs old at the time). I had just lost my GSD (a shelter dog) and really needed another dog with a big personality.
I love ALL your dogs! So adorable!!

Give them all cuddles from me!

I know why. It is that strong face that harkens (yeah, I said it) to an earlier time when things were simpler. Not necessarily better.

Besides, it is easier to read at a glance.

LOVE that face. And the font. And the second hand. Wish I had a watch like that.
Stupid apple watch. :stuck_out_tongue:

I like analog for a quick glance to see roughly what the time is. I like digital because I can quickly glance and know what the ā€œexactā€ time is. I wear digital watches, but above my computer here in my radio room, I have two analog wall clocks side by side. The left one is set to local time which is Eastern Time in the U.S. the right one is set to Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) which is what us amateur ham radio operators use for the time of our operating. That way if I make a contact with someone in Ireland, I can write down the UTC time and they can also write down the UTC time and we know what time it was. Or if we are going to schedule a contact, we do the same settling the agreed time in UTC.

As for the ā€œstupidā€ Apple watch, you can always turn away from the ā€œDark Sideā€ and come to the ā€œLightā€. May the Force be with you!

That scenario goes something similar to this

If that was me, I apologize. Iā€™ve since learned how to make my own watch faces so Iā€™ve stopped bothering others. Iā€™ll admit that I do ā€œborrowā€ a lot of ideas from accomplished designers such as yourself.

Your designs are cool Sir, and I donā€™t think that was directed at you :slightly_smiling_face:

It was definitely not you, unless you were using a different account and was only speaking in Polish. As far as my creations go, I consider all my faces and the content in them to be covered by a Creative Commons copyright. If you want to use anything, you are free to do so. I would appreciate you do two things. 1. Make sure you turn on inspection so others can see how itā€™s done. And 2. if you would credit me for where you found some of the content would be great.

DUDE!!!
You sound like a gamer!
I have a rig with 2 monitors and havenā€™t a clue how folks use just one with their computer anymore. I am always using one for my mail, the other for the browser, or one for files and one for the browser or ā€¦ well, you get the idea.
My husband is set up with a imac and a windows machine with 2 monitors and his desk is only a LOT cluttered!
By the way, I love Linux Mint. Got a dual boot machine because I couldnā€™t leave Windows 11 entirely - too many programs wonā€™t run on Linux and I am basically lazy. So I switch between them.
(I was a weather bug when I drove trucks cross country, but now that I am in one place all the time, not so much. Weather here is boring. :stuck_out_tongue: )
At least know I know when I have weather things I get excited about, I can post those here, too! Hee hee hee

Oddly enough, I donā€™t play games. I gave that up in the Super Nintendo era. I have lots more fun doing watch faces and writing web pages. Iā€™m the webmaster for our local amateur (ham) radio club and Iā€™m also a ham radio operator. I have my fun doing ā€œtechyā€ things.

I hear ya!
I donā€™t game anymore - I did years ago. Now I am busy being a caregiver for my husband and other family matters. When I have free time I crochet and sew. I could be more boring - but that would take work. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
