Someone else published a face of mine

Hi, i got a email about a take down, stating

This is my reply :

Please tell us why: in the first place, in your take down mail, you stated " “P A C - T I M E” that you posted on Monday, March 16th 2026 at 10:41:06 AM +00:00". This is a old face of mine which i published a long time ago, never and never did i publish on march 16th 2026 this face and never a update. You want proof, well if i published/updated that face that day it would be standing here in my latest faces, which is not.

Take a good look. It is not there and you can check it you self in your logs, if you wanted that.

Secondly, if i did not publish it, who did publish my face or faces without me, the owner.

Thirdly, if others can publish a face, which is clearly the case here, the responsibility is not mine.

Fourthly, you do not as usual mention WHY it is taken down, a serious error in communication, which lacks a lot.

Fifth, you say i can appeal it, how on earth can i appeal something without knowing WHY. But in any case, i appeal.

Sixth, if i had published it, i would have a draft. I always do, till it gets passed, then i delete the copy to save on Facer place.

Seventh, because i know i did not publish it on 16th march as you stated, it was therefore published a long time ago, and it passed a long time ago. Now suddenly it is a problem, not knowing why. So you accepted it and then you dont accept it, suddenly because somehow someone publishes my faces, you do another verification of TOS.

Eight, i suspect it was YOU, FACER, because i suspect you run through all faces NON WFF to check if they could be automatically converted in WFF…

But the guessing is on you, because you give no info and false info.

If it is confirmed, that my faces get published by someone else, i will make a save copy of ALL my faces, just in case this happens again in the future.

As soon i get all the info required to fully execute my rights of appeal, and based on each answer you give me, i will come back to you.

Greetings

BC

So my question to you is mainly, did it ever happen to you…

It is strange. Did not happen to me (yet), but I suspect it may be part of something like auto-updating old faces for new format by the server in background, triggering the copyright check again with updated set of rules.

There is no doubt in my mind the take down is because of this Brand Facer now has . I don’t know how old it is . As Peter says the Date is related to the day Marvin looked at it . You have not used the whole Trading name and the Shape is part of the progress . The can not ban .75 fill ratio surely ??!! So may be we add PAC to the list of banned words . I would certainly appeal on that Basis .Please let us know how you get on .

Exactly my thought as i have written. Except i dont agree with unauthorized republishment by FACER of my faces of which i have no control at all. Especially if that triggers a take down, which was not before, they excepted the face when i published it. Only owners dedice what happens with their faces, including republishment for whatever reasoning, after original publishment. Especially because i dont have anymore a copy, which will push me to keep copies anytime of all my watches.

But probably it is covered by this TOS, but i would like know what article…

I await the answer of Facer.

Yes, it seems circles with a gap of 25 % are forbidden. 26 %? your safe. I let you know the verdict… But this case is important to all of us, to know if we are the owner of our face… that would sound like a joke elsewhere, here it is not.

I always kept a Draft Copy :::)))
Sadly I don’t think we own outright Anything on Facer . I think you may have some claim it Copyright .

it seems, we own it, control it, as long as we dont publish…

Because everything is on a server it will be interesting to see what the law is . On WFS the files are on our own systems .

I obviously don’t know why it was taken down, but it wasn’t Published again on March 16th, that was simply when Marvin took it down. It happened to LOTS of my Faces a while ago, which at first was annoying, but after so many take downs I just gave up and yes, it did contribute heavily to me stopping using Facer (I don’t use any other platforms either, I was always loyal to Facer).

When an old face reaches a sync milestone, e.g. 25, 50, 100 syncs, I think this will invoke the face to be rechecked for copyright and brand violations. Did you receive any emails for the same face achieving a milestone?
And if not it may just be that the copy right checker may have been run on all faces with PAC MAN in their descriptions and the message contains a date/time of when the check was made, rather than when it was published.

another point awarded to WFS…

No, no milestone mail.

The mail text says, Dear Facer User:

We removed the watch face “P A C - T I M E” that you posted on Monday, March 16th 2026

That is totally wrong. I posted nothing as proven by my screenshot. If i would have published this old face 16/03 or updated, it would sit top in my workspace, which is not.

So the text is completely imaginated and suggests a publishment was made and therefore the checks run. If you were right, the text should be, we run again the check and based on the rerun we suspect violation. But that is not the case, at least i did not publish or updated it again AND it is not the text.

Furthermore, would it not reasonable to explain the reason of a drastic measure like take down?? That is totally unsatisfying and below standards of communication.

Besides that PAC-TIME is not PACMAN and a 3/4 circle is never patented. If you google on PAC-TIME, well you get PACIFIC TIME ZONE wich is never patented, as confirmed by COPILOT.

And i can not check the description of a taken down face, can i…

I await the answers from SUPPORT and will give feed back on the matter.

One of my older watch faces with a Pac-Man theme was also removed, with the same notice and date mentioned in the email. I didn’t use the term “Pac-Man,” so I suspect it may have been flagged automatically through image scanning, possibly by Marvin.

I’ve submitted an appeal for this as well. It seems to be related to this announcement: Facer Brings PAC-MAN to the Wrist with New Official Digital Watch Faces

If it is the title, that is not important to me. I can change that although i insist that PAC-TIME is not the same as PAC-MAN. If i google, the results show not PAC MAN, when i google on PAC-TIME, that prooves there is no connection. More important to me is the use to 3/4 objects, like a circle. I did not for example add an eye or something that referr to PAC-MAN. I think 3/4 objects are unpatented. Would you agree?

And yes you are right, i suspect that when they announce, Facer brings… they start scanning… but they must do that correct and not state that i published it. They can NOT publish, only the owner can and i did not. So they did. I even am more worried, they can republish a face, probably each face without permission of the owner. I dont think they can or should. There are rules of copyright, also for Facer.

If Facer is in the US, they would need to follow US law. PAC-TIME would imply that the product is somehow related to PAC-MAN. Attorney in the family. Just sayin’. For example, if someone told you they have a “Mickey Time” watch, what would that suggest to you? No need to answer. To me I would think they have a Mickey Mouse watch.

The first thing to came to mind for me was “Pacific Time”.

I’m just glad I stopped naming faces with “names” but went to MAG (Mr. Antisocial Guy initials) and the number of the watch. Today I will publish MAG 3281 which will be my 3,281st watchface.

I understand everyone’s perspective. What I don’t understand is the inconsistency. There are thousands upon thousands of watch faces on Facer that infringe on copyright. Yes, including PAC-MAN faces clearly labeled with the name and featuring recognizable characters like Pac-Man and the ghosts. But there are also many other brands and copyrighted elements being used without permission.

In my view, it’s simple: either enforce the rules properly, or don’t enforce them at all.
