I thought Mickey was up for grabs these days . I see many faces with him in . May be not with his name in the title .
oh no, just the early steamboat mickey is free to use
Marvin is going to be Busy then .
I note that Mickey is NOP in a search . " ickey Mouse "did the trick .
.
It probably took 30 seconds for @russellcresser to filter this - cant someone at Facer do the same? Marvin cant do everything.
It’s not fair to just about everyone on this community forum who care passionately and worry about copyright and avoid it like the plague so that Marvin doesn’t cast his xray eyes on them and destroy them!
Come on @Facer_Official you have many clever people surely they can spare a couple of minutes to do this?
So, the ORACLE OF FACER is bad und unjustified but it does not matter. I am now stopping my publishing activities on Facer, period. My questions are unanswered and that is bad policy. Besides that, just to finish my post here, i laid the image which FACER used for the take down, to COPILOT. Here is its answer. But i had enough.
Here’s the straight, practical answer you actually need — without the drama Facer tends to inject into these decisions.
Is your image a copyright infringement of Pac‑Man?
Based on what you showed: almost certainly no.
Let’s break it down cleanly and deterministically.
What Pac‑Man copyright actually protects
Namco’s copyright covers things like:
- The Pac‑Man character design (yellow circle with a wedge mouth)
- The ghost characters
- The maze layout
- The distinctive game graphics, icons, and sounds
- Any derivative work that is recognizably based on those elements
To infringe, your design must visually reference or imitate those protected elements.
What your image contains
From your uploaded image:
- A circular calendar dial
- A white wedge indicating a date
- Numbers around the circle
- No eyes, no mouth, no ghosts, no maze, no pellets
- No yellow color scheme
- No game‑related iconography
It is a generic radial UI layout, not a depiction of Pac‑Man.
Does a circle with a wedge = Pac‑Man?
Legally: No.
A circle with a missing slice is a universal geometric form used in:
- Pie charts
- Timers
- Progress rings
- Watch faces
- Countless UI elements
Copyright does not protect basic shapes or functional UI indicators.
For it to be infringing, it must be recognizably Pac‑Man, meaning:
- Yellow
- Mouth shape identical to Pac‑Man
- Character‑like appearance
- Context suggesting the game
- Or other protected elements
Your design does none of that.
Why Facer sometimes flags this incorrectly
Facer’s moderation is:
- Automated
- Over‑sensitive
- Known to misclassify circular UI elements as “Pac‑Man‑like”
They often flag:
- Circular progress bars
- Radial gauges
- Pie‑slice indicators
- Anything with a wedge shape
This is not a legal determination, just a platform‑level false positive.
Conclusion
Your image is NOT a copyright infringement of Pac‑Man.
It is a generic radial calendar UI, and nothing about it is uniquely or recognizably derived from Namco’s copyrighted material.
If Facer flagged it, it’s almost certainly a false positive, not a real legal issue.
If you want, I can help you craft a clean, factual appeal message to Facer that explains why the design is non‑infringing.
And here is the mail trail for those who want it all…

Please tell us why: in the first place, in your take down mail, you stated " “P A C - T I M E” that you posted on Monday, March 16th 2026 at 10:41:06 AM +00:00". This is a old face of mine which i published a long time ago, never and never did i publish on march 16th 2026 this face and never a update. You want proof, well if i published/updated that face that day it would be standing here in my latest faces, which is not.
[cid:b808d917-4a61-429d-a65c-291c81524952]
Take a good look. It is not there and you can check it you self in your logs, if you wanted that.
Secondly, if i did not publish it, who did publish my face or faces without me, the owner.
Thirdly, if only owners can publish a face, which is clearly not the case here, the responsibility is not mine.
Fourthly, you do not as usual mention WHY it is taken down, a serious error in communication, which lacks a lot.
Fifth, you say i can appeal it, how on earth can i appeal something without knowing WHY. But in any case, i appeal.
Sixth, if i had published it, i would have a draft. I always do, till it gets passed, then i delete the copy to save on Facer place.
Seventh, because i know i did not publish it on 16th march as you stated, it was therefore published a long time ago, and it passed a long time ago. Now suddenly it is a problem, not knowing why. So you accepted it and then you dont accept it, suddenly because somehow someone publishes my faces, you do another verification of TOS.
Eight, i suspect it was YOU, FACER, because i suspect you run through all faces NON WFF to check if they could be automatically converted in WFF…
But the guessing is on you, because you give no info and false info.
If it is confirmed, that my faces get published by someone else, i will make a save copy of ALL my faces, just in case this happens again in the future.
As soon i get all the info required to fully execute my rights of appeal, and based on each answer you give me, i will come back to you.
hey there, i think it’s no where near as complicated as you’re making it out to be. as has always been the case certain words are flagged by the auto-system. It appears PAC has probably been added to the this along with all the other benign words like Halo, Khaki, and Wow. something in the system must have triggered the scan that auto-flagged your face. A simple appeal and they will restore it for you, though you probably will have to remove use of the word PAC if you ever publish it. The only unusual thing is if it was only a draft and got flagged/removed anyway which would be a bug and they’d probably be happy to know about it so be sure to mention that if you appeal. Also, I’d advise keep it short and sweet. It’s obviously a false positive and they’ll see that.
That is frustrating, I’ve had a few “close” to some generic thing be pulled before they were ever published. Wish they did a better job of vetting these. Personally, beyond your 'Pie cut out" I don’t see it. Nice design though… but I have to agree, the names seem to really be got before anything else, might I suggest 3/4 Pie? haha, J/K.
This is like the bad joke
pilot saying to tower over radio: guess who?
they turned off runway light with reply: guess where?
here we have to guess what may cause trigger and rinse and repeat, until that something no longer does it, even though the trigger only indicates it may, not that it in deed does infringe anything. What is the overseer there for, when the false flag keeps in place?
My appeal was not accepted. Respect should work both sides as is the basis for each relation. And i take that seriously too. Take care. ![]()
I’ve had a few such takedowns where the publish date is the date of the takedown. It appears to happen when someone syncs the face bringing it to a milestone like 100 syncs. All of my takedowns were cartoon characters used for my grandchildren. This was years ago when I first started out and there were tons of similar faces. Even now they get an occasional sync triggering a takedown
what does that mean, “not accepted” ? they told you specifically no they weren’t going to restore it? If so, was there an explaination?
I only got what i pasted in a post above and that was their answer on my appeal. There were no answers on my questions and they only stated :
After a careful review, we determined that your watch face was removed due to suspected trademark/copyright infringement of the Pac-Man brand.
That is it. Dont use 3/4 circles and dont use Pac IN ANY WORD, like pac-kage, God forbid. I will not say what i think about that. But i give in and i stop. That’s all. I had enough.
Unfortunately Facer deemed your circle with a slice taken out, too similar to Pac-Man. Sometimes life is harsh. But if you have a draft copy of your watch face, then not all is lost. Just only you cannot share it with others. I think a lot of members including myself have had watch face takedowns in the past, which is why we always advocate making a duplicate before publishing. If you do really want to share your face with the world, then you could always reproduce it on another watch face site (I don’t need to name them, as I am sure you are aware of their existence.)
I deleted my PAC-MAN face, but I don’t think I would have got away with it had it been found by Marvin

Maybe it is a free for all on Imported Faces . May be Marvin does not know how to take them down .

.
Maybe the one pixel wedge “mouth” on the yellow dot does not count as pac-anything.
Maybe author has permission to make inspired face.
It’s simple. If you think Marvin missed something report it so Facer Staff can check it.
You’re right, it is simple… I usually just scroll on by. Marvin misses a lot. I wished they would verify with human eyes before they take a face down.
I actually think it’s not the graphics but it’s the word PAC. Do you have a copy still in drafts or not? But honestly I have a little bit of a hard time following your whole first through eighth writeup. I think generally keep it clear and simple and to the point. It also still sounds like a bug if it got auto flagged while in drafts, that should not happen. If you are still pursuing it send me the ticket # I’ll ask them to look into it.
It’s PAC.
AND the fact that it kinda looks like pac man.
Just rename it and you should be fine.
